About Us
Stories and Queer reading series steps in to embrace queer and queer friendly poets and writers who express themselves, the issues/ideas most important to them. This series makes a positive contribution to the literary and LGBTQ community by encouraging all people to tell their stories without shame or fear.
We are a traveling reading series that aims to provide a space for local & national readers/listeners to connect with queer & queer-friendly writers in underrepresented areas of the country. The virtual components of this series are unique and allow us to reach beyond the local borders of the event.
In order to feature local writers, we don't want to remain locked to one location. We want to take the series on the road. Locations include: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Denver/Boulder, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Providence, Seattle, San Antonio, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque/Santa Fe, Lincoln St. Louis, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Iowa City, and Burlington.
About You
Your monetary contribution will not only help us reach our goals for the series, but will have a lasting and positive impact on both literary and LGBTQ communities. We've also included a list of perks to give you a little nudge to contribute. If you prefer a little more privacy, you can donate anonymously to our campaign.
Why Us
Queer poets and writers need to be given a space to share their work just as much as their straight counterparts. This is an issue of visibility. Queer voices should not be marginalized nor hidden away. Even though the LGBTQ community is on the brink of historic advancements in equal rights, bullying and anti-LGBTQ speech is still pervasive.
Why You
Given the cost of the technology needed as well as other costs involved in starting a series from scratch, we are reaching out to ask you to donate what you can to make the series the best it can be.
