Streets of Change
(The Project)
In writing this treatment for Streets of Change, it will at times be referred to as "The Project."
First City Selected: Boston, MA
Streets of Change - The eye opening reality-documentary series following the lives of eight* people experiencing homelessness , with one goal - to get them earning a living & thriving- not just surviving.
Streets of Change is a concept film project by photographer and filmmaker, Joe Martin. "The project," is still in the conceptual phases and may be rolled out as a documentary or reality documentary series.The goal is to retain funding so this eye-opening project can have the same impact on the public about homelessness in America, as the following films had on the way many people look at nutrition and health: Forks Over Knives, Fat Sick and Nearly Dead or Food, Inc. Like these movies, Streets of Change has the potential to not only change the lives of the homeless people that are selected to be featured in the film or series, but also wake up the public to see that little changes in someone's life can go a long way. We hope to turning viewers into people that take action to help others in the same position as the people in, "The Project."
Motivation
We hope to motivate the homeless through support, books and videos to bring the people selected to a new level of self worth. We hope by doing this it will bring a new understanding that all people are the same and if given the right tools and suport, they can do anything.
My personal experience involves working with the filming of many TV spots from The Dr. Phil Show, Nightline, Fox 25, ABC's Wife Swap, The Oprah Winfrey Show and the OWN Network.
The Main Goals of "Streets of Change"
1. To bring a broader awareness of the homeless problem in our American cites and around the world.
2. To follow the lives of eight homeless people in four cities.
3. To prove that with very little help and if given a chance, the average person can return to a "normal" life.
4. To create a life altering film or series that will change the lives of all that are involved, including both the participants in "the project," and the viewers. It is my goal to have this film.
5. We are making this film/series in hopes that the ideas shared in the series would spawn more programs in other cities around the US maybe the world. In hope of helping 100's if not 1000's of people get off the streets and back to a more normal life.
What We Need & What You Get
The goal is to raise enough funds to create, The Project, using the funds to supply needed equipment for this project and enough funds to help eight homeless people move from the streets and re-introduce them to a "normal" life.
Funding will be used for full makeovers, renting housing, food and furnishings. We will use local vendors to keep the cosst down.
If we want this project to have the impact we hope, we need to have a enough gear so that 2-4 camera crews can be working at the same time.
The first funding project will be used to work with one person and get them back on track. Also using the filming for promotion for the major filming that will take place are a larger scale. Then a follow up campaign will be started to raise funds. Any fund overpay will be used toward the bigger series filming.
Other uses for the funding will include and not be limited too: Car rentals, transportation cost, renting of needed equipment and funding for the supping of any last minute contingency issues.
By helping funding with this project you are helping so many more people then the ones that will be selected for this project in the way of media coverage and education of the public on issues in their communities
we do offer perks. Some might think the perks are not HUGE. But to keep the funding needs low we selected perks that would not add 20% more to the funding needs. We want this money to go to the people that need it and not back out in other forms .
If we do have funding with enough overage we may start a second project and include as many homeless people as funds allow for.
How will it be done?
We are working in partnership with local shelters and missions to find candidates that will fulfill The Projects needs. Candidates will be screened out and will not be used if they have any one or more of the following known issues: drug use, history of violent behavior or criminal backgrounds.
We want the audience to experience the life of what it is like to be homeless but will not put the project or any production crew in danger. We are confident that our review process will ensure the safety of everyone involved.
We are committed to the projects success and our ability to meet our goals of making a shockingly, real film that will grab the public from the opening scene

We will be posting updates on a regular basis and need your help in getting the word out the more funds we can raise the more people we can help in a shorter amount of time. If this project can be half of the vision I have it will change peoples' world's forever. Help change the way people think about folks that have it hard in hard times.
This 1st fundraiser is for the sole purpose of raising enough funds to help one homeless person find housing and employment enough to be sustainable and return to a "normal life".
Once we have successfully done this, we will raise the number of people helped to what we hope will be eight. If our funding for this campaign surpasses our goal by a large margin, then we will include more people in the 1st run of the filming and expand the vision.
