Short SummaryRITEH Waterbike Team is a group of enthusiastic students of naval architecture and engineering from Faculty of Engineering in Rijeka. The team was founded in 1999 with a goal to compete and also exchange skills and knowledge on the IWR (International Waterbike Regatta) with waterbike constructed and made by students.

Team IWR history
RITEH Waterbike Team had the first appearance on the IWR in 1999 which was held in Zagreb. The second appearance was in 2000 in Flensburg and after that RITEH Waterbike Team did not compete for 9 years.
On the jubilant XXX. IWR held in Rostock, RITEH Waterbike Team made a comeback with the new waterbike called ”Zvizda” which means ”a star”. Since then, every second year team designs a new vessel. In 2011 team developed "Kajzer", a carbon made catamaran with aluminium structure, and in 2013 we created "Šijun" by the same concept as previous, but 50% lighter. 2014 is year of trials and testings Šijun's capabilities with the goal to become one of the best waterbikes n the IWR 2014 in Istanbul.

What We Need & What You Get
For project implementation we need 10,000 USD. Most of funds we receive from our sponsors like AITAC, Lloyd's Register, etc.

Project Waterbike Šijun is in the final stage and for complete it we need about 3,000 USD. Funds we need are mostly intended for propulsive system of waterbike:
- We designed 3 screws for different disciplines in which we compete (there are 6 disciplines on regatta), but we don't have funds for acquisition in material and CNC processing. Each screw cost 600 USD.
- High loads on the propulsive parts (which we take from bicycle) after a while cause deformations and we have to replace them with new ones or construct own (which takes much more money than first solution). Propulsive parts includes bike gears, cassette, chains and carbon shaft. Value of all is 800 USD.
- The rest of founds we receive shall be spent for Istanbul expedition equipment, such as tent, tools and other supplies.
The Impact
Team mission is to:
- Increase interest in technical sciences, especially in naval architecture.
- Promotion of water-biking culture in community.
- Promotion of sport and healthy lifestyle.
After all we want to achieve as best as possible result on the upcoming regatta in Istanbul to prove our progress.
