Submittrs
Submittrs helps writers keep track of their pieces and their
submissions. You can click on the title of a piece and see everywhere it’s been
submitted. You can click on the title of a magazine, or what we call a Submittee,
and see your entire submission history with that place—how often you’ve been
submitting there, how quickly they respond, and if the responses have been
positive. You can see the lists of who’s invited you to submit again, who’s
accepted your work in the past, and who you want to submit to in the future,
all on one page. It’ll even alert you if you’re planning to simultaneously
submit a piece you don’t want to simultaneously submit.
All the information writers have been storing in
spreadsheets, notebooks, documents, and emails can now be found in one place,
an easy to use website. The information won’t be lost and it will finally be
the more accessible and interactive.
The Beta Test
We’ve been testing Submittrs since August 2013 with about
five active users. We want to beta test the website from April 2014 - March 2015 with about 100 active users. With this campaign, we’re hoping for two
things. 1) To raise enough money to run the beta test. 2) To find those 100
users.
We’re looking for writers who want to keep track of all
their submissions with Submittrs for a year, discuss their use of the website
on our funders’ forum, and offer us feedback. Over the year, we hope to keep adding
features, big and small. It should be a very exciting year, leading to the full
launch of Submittrs in April 2015.
The Rewards
Many of the rewards involve being a beta tester. Other
rewards get you memberships to Submittrs once the website launches. There are
two exceptions. 1) Donating just to show your support at the $1 level (or an
amount of your choice!). 2) Getting access to the funders’ forum at the $5
level. The funders’ forum is where beta testers can discuss using the site with
each other and can offer feedback. As a non-beta tester with access to the
forum, you can follow along with the development of the site, view screenshots,
and add your input.
The Team
Sarah Blake is a poet, publishing her first book, Mr. West, with Wesleyan University Press
in the fall of 2014. Noah Schoenholtz is a computer programmer with Alley
Interactive. We're a wife and husband team, and we’re excited to be working
together to bring Submittrs to more writers.
