Toni and Rob are excited to be representing
the Marianist Laity of the United States,
especially all young adult laity.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Support YOUR Representatives for Young Adults
at the International Gathering of Marianist Laity
An international gathering of Marianist Laity will take place in Lima, Peru, from 26 January to 2 February 2014. Each country is represented by a delegation nominated from among its members. The Marianist Laity in the United States will be represented by a delegation of 6, two of whom -- Rob Brodrick and Toni Mesina -- are specifically committed to representing young adult views.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT to fund a portion of their expenses. Please consider lending your support -- in whatever amount! -- to these two, committed, lay Marianists.
REGARDLESS of your ability to contribute financially to this cause, please read the letters that Toni and Rob share below and leave thoughts for them to take to the Peru gathering. While they will be particulalry focused on representing young adult voices, we appreciate input from members of the Marianist Family of all ages. Thanks in advance for your insights!
Following the gathering in Peru, Toni and Rob will return to share what they have heard and learned with everyone back here, both through media like this and at the MLNNA Assembly in July 2014.
Every voice matters and every dollar counts! THANK YOU.
Please share this with other Marianist Young Adults you know!
MEET TONI MESINA

In January, I will be
joining lay Marianists from around the world at the International Assembly in
Peru. Delegates represent communities that range from having been a part of the
Marianist Family for years to some who are just starting out, from communities
who meet face-to-face regularly to communities, like mine, who meet virtually.
The different voices that will be around the table will be amazing because our
voices reflect the evolving needs of communities as cultures change. Graduates of
our Marianist secondary schools & universities, parishioners and LIFE
Alumni are searching for continuing formation to keep the Marianist charism
alive and well in their lives and in the lives of their MLCs. This Assembly is
a great opportunity to network with other Marianist young adult communities who
may be facing the same challenges as we are in the Province of the United
States. It is my wish, that as we start the conversations in Peru and continue
them in the years to come, that our young adults continue to find their places
in the Marianist Family to live as our founders envisioned.
MEET ROB BRODRICK
Hi!
I'm Rob Brodrick and I will be one of the U.S. delegates to the
International Assembly of Marianist Lay Communities this January in Peru.
Even more exciting is the fact that I have been asked specifically to
bring the voices of young adults and young adult communities to the assembly.
I am privileged to currently serve on the board of the Mission of Mary
Farm, help engage young adults to social justice efforts through the Adele
Social Justice Project, and to connect our international communities together
though the monthly publication of La Madeleine. I hope to be able
to use these experiences as a basis for dialogue with other lay Marianists from
around the world. However, I really want to be able to draw on the
experiences of others as well.
In
her latest circular the president of the International Organization of MLCs,
Isabella Moyer, reminds us that "as Marianist lay women and men, we are
called to live our faith in the heart of the world." I would love to
hear comments especially from our young adults about what it means for them to
live our faith in the heart of the world in this day and age. What are
the greatest challenges you believe the Marianist Family faces as it advances
into the 21st century? On the flip side, what do you think our greatest
resources are? Are there particular parts of the Marianist charism as we
live it in the United States that you feel we have to offer communities in
other countries? Or are there things you would like to hear from lay
Marianists about how they life their faith in the heart of other parts of the
world?
Please
leave comments here on our Indiegogo fundraising site or in a personal email to
me at rjbrodrick@clm-mlc.org.
I look forward to hearing more about how we can represent the US young
adult voice at the upcoming Peru meeting. If you would like more
information about the International Organization and the upcoming meeting,
please visit the official website of the 2014 International Assembly. Thank you so much for your
financial contributions and thoughtful comments!
LEND YOUR SUPPORT
Gifts of any size will make a difference. All gifts will be received by the Marianist Lay Network of North America, a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization in the United States. THANK YOU for your support.
If you prefer to send a check or money order, please contact us for more details.
Our goal is to raise approximately $1000 each for Toni and Rob. Any funds raised beyond this goal will be applied first to the general expenses for US Delegation's participation in Peru and then to the general fund of the Marianist Lay Network of North America.
