Introductions-
![]()
Greetings everyone, I'm Joe DeMuro from Wolfbain Productions. Wolfbain productions was started back in 2009 by me with the intentions of creating films on a local and independent level. Through my networking and love of conventions, I began a dialogue with Ron Chamberlain![]()
, which after a year of working several conventions with him as his canvas (underneath his monster makeup), we joked about making a monster movie. Then I ran into Thomas Rice![]()
who is a musician of 39 years, and all around computer guru who has always wanted to be involved in film as a composer (but other possible positions in sound design). Because of his other talent skills, Thomas ended up being a nice fit into the company. Eventually all three of us brought in Mike Rudolph![]()
as our DP/Lighting/Camera guy. Mike had graduated from Broome Community College in Binghamton with his degree in photography and film. Mike was met through working on our first feature as co-producers and brought into Wolfbain Productions. Now the four of us make up the core of Wolfbain.
Our campaign is using the crowd source funding aspect to raise money for the last 10% of the film and to also help us attend film conventions for marketing purposes world wide if possible. The last 10% of the film is going to be an all out fight sequence between two of our main monster characters, and we would like to be able to go that extra mile in the practical special effects category to really bring it home. We would like to be able to bring in a Choreographer and someone who has done wire work previously, in order to make this scene the best it can possibly be. Who doesn't like watching a werewolf leaping impossible distances when attacking the Frankenstein Monster?
What your donations will help us achieve is creating a new classic film in the vein of the old school Universal Studios and Hammer Films. What we have found through constant comments, emails, and public research over the past few years, is that the fans themselves really want an old school classic. They want it delivered in black and white without all the blood guts and gore and for it to transport them back to the old school days of horror. Those old films always showed just enough to let your mind imagine the worst, without showing you in full blown detail, what, exactly, is happening on the screen.
What We Need & What You Get
We are attempting to raise $15,000 to split half towards the effects, choreography and wire work to finish the film, and the rest will go towards film festival travel, entry fees, any marketing materials along the way.
We are very pleased with the enthusiasm we have received via film forums, Youtube and various Horror Magazines from around the world wanting to do interviews with us already. There are several conventions around the world already asking for screeners. We have already received trailer reviews from various groups and online forums that have stated that we really paid an homage' to the original classics, and they are also happy that we did kick it up a notch to attract the younger crowd as well.
To see what we are talking about, google "Tales of Dracula" and you'll see the buzz for yourselves.
Our perks will include a special thanks in the film credits as well as a special thanks on our Facebook page, lobby cards, signed pictures, posters, etc. all the way up through ownership of official props, producer credits, and depending on the highest level of perk, be in the film scene we have yet to shoot of the battle sequence!
If we don't reach our entire goal, we'll split the funding up between the last 10% of the film and the marketing campaign as previously mentioned. We may not get to do all the special wire work, and what not, but we'll make it better with a choreographed fight scene. There are many roads we can go down to make it work in the end and truly bring you the best picture possible.
The Impact
We believe that there are more people interested in seeing new films in the old style of film composition, that want a great story, and perhaps a continued "new" story of the old school classics. Fans of the old school films want the story to continue that Universal and Hammer, never did. We believe that the world wants and needs, some old school fun on the silver screen again.
Wolfbain Productions were co-producers on another film locally and was the head of the special effects department which has won multiple awards for special effects makeup and monster creation. We are very fortunate to have Ron Chamberlain, who truly is a super talented "Jack Pierce" of our day and age! Ron has created amazing new designs for the various Mon"Stars" of our film. A good example is in the trailer showing above!
Ron was the "Best Special Effects Make Up Winner at the 2012 Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival" and "Scare A Con in Syracuse Best Make-up FX winner of 2013"!
Ron has also had some of his work showcased on Shark Week and the Discovery Channel. Ron has worked on other feature length films in the past and was an understudy to Dick Smith (Exorcist).
