The Texas Quilt Museum invites quilt lovers to help us purchase a state-of-the-art digital projector and large screen to enhance our public programming. We are the only quilt museum in the American Southwest (texasquiltmuseum.org), celebrating our first-year anniversary! (We are a 501 c 3 organization.)
WHY SHOULD YOU HELP? This equipment will enable us to tell the story of quilts with top-quality images and narration to school groups and other visitors, complementing the current exhibition with in-depth information to pique the interest of everyone. We believe that learning about quilts will encourage a deep sense of appreciation for American material culture and the historic role of women in the past and in the quilt art of today.
WHAT ARE YOU HELPING US PURCHASE? If we reach our goal: a professional projector (5000 bright lumens) with built-in audio, and an electric screen, 45 x 80 inches, plus installation. We need equipment of this quality because the room is rather large and we want to present quilts in the best possible light with true color.
WHY ARE WE ASKING FOR SO MUCH MONEY? The projector alone costs more than $4000, and administrative costs from IndieGoGo and First Giving take more than ten percent. Your receipt from The Quilt Institute will be emailed by First Giving, which manages the IndieGoGo non-profit campaigns.
If we happen to exceed our goal, additional funding will be applied to the Museum's exhibitions budget. The image above shows you only a few of the spectacular antique quilts in our spring 2013 exhibiton, Flower Power.
Any amount of donation is very much appreciated. Please note that, except for Canada, we are not able to ship gifts outside the U.S. because of excessive postal costs.
