The Beard Book

The Beard Book is a collection of black & white, fine art photography of over 100 men, their beards, and their stories.  Proceeds from the sale of the book will go directly to the The Keep-A-Breast Foundation www.keep-a-breast.org as well as the Indiana University Simon Cancer Center – Foundation for Testicular Cancer Research www.cancer.iu.edu.

The Beard Book began as an inspired idea to create photographic art of a popular yet often misunderstood culture.  Facial hair is grown for many reasons and The Beard Book set out to capture the creativity and celebration of this masculine mystique.  The beard has been around for a long, long time.  Throughout history, men often sported spectacular beards and mustaches and dressed with pride and care.  At the turn of the last century, beards were very popular; in modern times, they are the exception rather than the rule.  Today, many men wear their facial hair in honor of those that came before them, while others have ushered in a new era of facial hair fashion. Additionally, we now have facial hair growing world championships, a reality show about the warring of whiskers and competition in this hairy sport, the huge bearded nation gay culture, documentary films, and even ‘The Whiskerinas’ (USA Women's Beard & Moustache Society).  The Beard Book is comprised of Bearded Gents from all walks of life including several celebrities and beard growing champions.  It is a collection of beautiful photography as well as a personal interest piece as we get to learn what having a beard means to our facial hair endowed models.

Why we need your help...

The Beard Book has been a labor of love since December 2010.  Everything is finally done and the book is ready to go.  But we have run out of funds to complete the book and bring it to the world.  It will mean a lot to us to be able to share our art, but it will mean even more to be able donate lots and lots of money to our 2 wonderful charities.

Where the money goes...

At this point, we need to print, publish, and advertise the book as well as make large art prints for our big gallery opening / fundraiser.  We have calculated the costs and realized that we can no longer do this on our own.  Therefore, we have created this great campaign in order to raise enough funds to truly see this project through. 

Your donation of any increment will be vital in making this happen and we greatly appreciate it.  We have put together some nice perks as well.

We have set up a flexible funding campaign, meaning that even if we don't meet our goal, we will still get the money that was donated.  Therefore we can put it towards our project and it will still help us get that much closer.

And if you are not in the position to make a monetary donation, you can still be of great help.  Spread the word!  Tell everyone you know about the book.  Share the links to this campaign and the book itself on your social media platforms.  That will be an incredible help to us.
