The CADO is being built like a puzzle, to pull apart and come together as one expansive mobile structure.Construction has already begun and we’re close to 75% of the way done building. We teamed up with architects at Currey House to put our vision into blueprints and ensure the design of the building was as much of a focus as the art inside. They helped us find shipping container experts at FreeForm DC to lead the manufacturing which is no easy feat. Did we mention it’s likely the largest ever??? Seeing this dream come to life has been awe-inspiring.

We now need your help to complete the project and move the containers out of the warehouse to our opening location in San Diego.

Immerse yourself in the green you love to ‘gram and leave with more than a pretty picture. With the expert input from title sponsor California Avocado Commission, we’ll unravel what’s behind your photo-worthy toast topper (spoiler: Jason Mraz will tell you it includes dedicated growers and California sunshine) so you’ll have a new appreciation for the fruit.
Feel the avocado-skinned walls, get to know the Hass Mother Tree and wander through the fragrance of 22 real California avocado trees into our tasting room. We’ll slowly draw back the curtains and unpeel 1-2 rooms every Friday.

We’ve already raised significant funds through sponsorship, our own pockets, and family. And we’re about 75% done building! As you can imagine with a project of this scope, it requires more time and budget than we originally anticipated. But, we don’t have deep pockets or investors backing us like most of the other experiences out there. So, we’re turning to you to help fill the gap and also show sponsors and investors that there is a community already invested in The CADO.
Minimum crowdfunding goal: $15,000. This covers the cost of trucks to move our 16 shipping containers from the warehouse to the opening location in San Diego.
If we do not reach our goal, we don’t yet have another way of getting our containers to their opening location. We’re also pursuing additional funding by bringing on sponsors and potential investors.
Interested in sponsorship or know someone who would be a great fit? Email us at meetme@thecado.co.

It was sparked by:
#ThatFeelingWhen you bought a ticket to a pop-up experience, entered with stars in your eyes, and walked away with only one decent photo, a tummy ache and wanting it to be so much more than it was.
We had a different vision for how to create an experience that was more than an Instagram backdrop and what if we did it here in San Diego? So we started brainstorming.

We are almost finished building The CADO and have faced every challenge with creative solutions and input from experts. There are challenges and risks for any construction project and event, and fortunately our team has the experience to anticipate those.
The challenge:
Our biggest challenge is money. We’re building the largest mobile container structure ever on top of our commitment to create an experience better than anything else out there. With a motto of “no ugly corners,” it takes more upfront capital to open our first location.
The advantage:
We’re building something that lasts. After our first location, we don’t have to start from scratch in each city. This keeps our operation costs extremely low and makes us nimble so that we can go wherever the avocados call us.
