WHAT WE NEED
By now, everyone knows that filmmaking is expensive. And while THE CONDEMNED has very limited locations, only three characters and a relatively short run time, it is, after all, a period piece (with a horse).
The good news is that through our combined decades of production experience and know-how, several key connections around Hollywood, and the help of some incredibly talented and generous individuals, we know that we can make this epic short film the right way, for relatively little money.
But we DO need money...
We already have the horse, we just need to pay for it (and the wrangler that comes with it). We need authentic costumes, and they have to look great. And because there's rain in the script (and in LA it NEVER rains), we have to pay for a rain machine.
As in business, location is everything, and the people who own and manage permits for these places know it. We may get a deal on this, but it's still gonna cost us.
Food. The single most important element on a film set is craft service, and there's simply no skimping on this one.
Finally, despite the recent rise of digital, and the reports of film's demise, we will be shooting this intense, gritty, dynamic western film the only way it should be shot: ON BEAUTIFUL 35M MOTION PICTURE EMULSION FILM! Complete with Panavision Cameras and Lenses.
We make movies for the big screen people, and THE CONDEMNED is no exception.
This incredibly talented, professional, experienced team has no business working for free - and they never do. But they have generously commited their time and energy to this project through their belief in this story, in each other, and in the hope of creating a truly moving cinema experience.
