Short Summary
We are a group of volunteers who have come together in order to canvas support, organise events and provide "boots on the ground" in order to deliver leaflets and newspapers all with the stated objective of winning a majority Yes vote in the Scottish Independence Referendum due to take place on the 18th September 2014.
We believe:
Scotland should be able to elect a Parliament to run the Government based on the people of Scotland's political choice.
Be free to take the decision to remove Nuclear Weapons of Mass Destruction from our soil and change many aspects of the current system controlled by Westminster in London.
Be free and able to fund and ensure delivery of a socially just Welfare system that protects the vulnerable, provides health care to everyone and acts as a safety net for those who find themselves out of work.
What we are asking for and why.
Our group covers many towns and villages within the Scottish Borders region of Scotland.
We comprise:
Yes Tweeddale, Yes Galashiels, Yes Hawick, Yes Kelso, Yes Berwickshire,Yes Melrose, Yes Tweedbank, Yes Newtown & St Boswells, Yes Selkirk, Yes Jedburgh, Yes Gordon, Yes Earlston and Yes Lauder.
We have hundred's of activists organised across all these towns and villages. We run coffee mornings, street stalls, canvas for support, hand deliver newspapers and flyers to residents.
We attend meetings to discuss and promote the positive aspects and help others to understand the issues at stake and how Independence for Scotland could benefit their lives.
We want to be able to harness the positive energy, attitude and commitment our activists have shown by having resources available in order to help our volunteers to deliver their positive messages.
We want to print leaflets with key messages.
We want merchandise to handout to those who believe in a Yes vote for Scottish Independence and would be happy to display their support with a pin badge or car sticker.
We want to be able to hire local venues in order to provide a platform for undecided voters to come and meet with leading figures in the campaign for Independence such as Business for Scotland, Women for Independence, Labour for Independence.
We want to be able to take adverts in local magazines to promote our contact details for people to be able to reach us and also to promote our events taking place across the Borders region.
We believe the £4,000 we seek via this crowd funding project will make a substantial difference to the effectiveness of our volunteers efforts and will make an enormously positive contribution to the Yes Campaign for Independence.
