Our Mission: The Joy Bus is a Not for Profit organization whose sole purpose is to relieve the daily struggles of homebound cancer patients with a fresh Chef Inspired meal and a friendly face. Our Vision is to elevate the livelihood of our patrons with the joy of culinary sustenance.
Our organization has been issued a 501c3 status on a state level, and is waiting for national approval. We were founded in 2011 and named in honor of our dear friend Joy who struggled with the painstaking side-effects of cancer, ultimately losing her life to this horrific disease.
Millions of cancer patients are left to fend for themselves during this turning point in their lives. The Joy Bus will relieve the burden put on families during this time by providing healthy meals specified to meet our patron's needs. Our services are not limited to those fighting cancer but for all those warriors affected by a debilitating illness which has caused them to be homebound. The Joy Bus delivers not only quality meals to your doorstep but compassion and a smiling face.
Our meals are fresh, healthy, and mostly organic, which is a big key to recovery as well as to simply feeling better. We have a partnership with a local farm in the Phoenix Valley where we get all of our produce. We are a small organization and everyone is a volunteer.
What will your donations fund?
It isn't easy for nonprofits and small businesses to survive in their first couple years. In the Phoenix Valley we are the only nonprofit of our kind and instead of competing for funds with similiar organizations, we seek to partner and help one another.
Right now, our biggest expenses are food and gas for vehicles. The farm we work with is wonderful at providing fresh produce, but we do have to purchase meats and other ingredients for our meals. We also have expenses with the containers and bags the food comes in, and of course the gas for delivering meals all around the valley is very costly. We would like to be able to take on more people to serve, which means more produce and more deliveries.
Ultimately, our goal is to purchase a Joy Bus van, along with finding a kitchen to call our home. But we are working with what we've got right now. Our organization is completely volunteer run, and someday we would like to hire paid employees and expand our business in everyway.
We greatly appreciate your support.
Thank you!
