The Landlady – What's It All About
On Halloween 2013 we will be stepping back in time to the heyday of British horror.
Our short film 'The Landlady' will be an anthology of four stories in the 'portmanteau' tradition of 'Dead Of Night', 'Dr Terror's House Of Horror', 'Asylum' and other classics. Are you sick of zombies? Want more suspense than slashers? Tired of torture porn? We're breathing life back into the horror film with story, character and imagination.
In our film the mysterious Landlady rents out a room to her unfortunate tenants. All they have to do is follow four simple rules...
Rory O'Donnell and Jason Read are both seasoned filmmakers. Rory's last short film 'AutoDrive', funded through IndieGoGo, has played from Cannes to California, and he works on his projects between running the film training courses for the Raindance Film Festival. Jason has been a director on commercial and music videos for the last ten years and is also a professional musician/composer.
How Can You Get Involved
'The Landlady' will be shot with a professional cast and crew in London at the end of August, with post-production through September as we close down on our Halloween deadline!
When time is not on your side, cash is a great ally! So we're looking for funding to provide the best for the production. The best cast and crew. The best equipment and locations. The four stories of 'The Landlady' are set in four different time periods, with all the costumes and props that that entails. There will be some CG work as well as practical effects. And, hey we need to feed everyone!
So, this is what we need the finance for. To make the best possible film we can.
All of our contributors will be a part of this project. As well as the DVD copies and premiere invites we’re making available, we’ll also be keeping you updated with 'The Landlady's' progress through to Halloween and beyond.
Make A Difference
We think the endless churn of straight to DVD Zombie films is stifling the horror genre. We hope this short will lead to a series of new horror films based on story and character, rather than shocks and gore (though we don't mind a bit of that!)
We're currently in negotiations to cast a well-known Hammer scream-queen in our lead role, and the majority of the rest of cast is made up of strong, up-coming actresses ready to make their name in the genre.
We hope you'll be there at the launch of this revitalisation.
