THE PROJECT

THE LEGEND OF SIX FINGERS is an independent, feature length horror film written and directed by Sam Qualiana (SNOW SHARK: ANCIENT SNOW BEAST). produced by Gregory Lamberson (SLIME CITY, DRY BONES), and executive produced by Michael Raso (SHOCK-O-RAMA, THE SEDUCTION OF MISTY MUNDAE).  The project will be shot in Royalton, New York, a rural area located outside Buffalo.  THE LEGEND OF SIX FINGERS combines two subgenres into one: the Bigfoot movies of the 1970s, like THE LEGEND OF BOGEY CREEK and CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAKE, and the “found footage” movies which have been popular since THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT.  Other found footage movies include CLOVERFIELD and the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY series.  Debbie Rochon has already filmed three scenes for the film, and Lynn Lowry has signed on to play a key role.  THE LEGEND OF SIX FINGERS will shoot over the course of this summer.  A distributor is already interested in the project. 

SNOW SHARK: ANCIENT SNOW BEAST, funded in part on IndieGoGo, was released on DVD in February by Alternative Cinema/POP Cinema Studios.  Family Home Video acquired the film for rental in the US, and thousands of units were sold to Canada.  While SNOW SHARK was a tongue in cheek creature feature, THE LEGEND OF SIX FINGERS will be a frightening nail biter.  The style of found footage filmmaking – a cinema verite technique – will simplify shooting and, make editing easier, and create a more frightening atmosphere.

THE STORY

Two filmmakers, Neil and Andrew, set out to make a documentary about a rash of domestic animal slaughters.    After interviewing several local residents, the filmmakers learn about the Native American legend of Yá·yahk osnúhsaˀ - “Six Fingers” in English, a bipedal creature not unlike Bigfoot, so named because it has three claws on each hand.  Believing that Six Fingers is responsible for the animal slayings, the filmmakers set out on a terrifying journey into the woods to learn the truth.

KEY PERSONNEL

SAM QUALIANA is the writer and director of THE LEGEND OF SIX FINGERS, and co-stars as Andrew, the cameraman half of the filmmaking duo that dominates the film.  Qualiana won the Filmmaker to Watch Award at Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival, and his short film SOMETHING AFTER MIDNIGHT won Best Horror Short Film.  His debut feature, SNOW SHARK: ANCIENT SNOW BEAST, won “Best Title” at PollyGrind Film Festival and was released on DVD by Alternative Cinema/POP Cinema Studios.  Since then, he worked as 2^nd Assistant Director on Debbie Rochon’s MODEL HUNGER, 1^st AD on Lloyd Kaufman’s RETURN TO NUKE EM HIGH, 2^nd AD on Chris Olen Ray’s SyFy werewolf movie BATTLEDOGS, and Director of Photography on Gregory Lamberson and Michael O’Hear’s DRY BONES, which just completed principal photography.  He is primed and ready to scare the pants off you with his second feature!

GREGORY LAMBERSON is an award winning author and filmmaker.  He directed the 1988 midnight movie cult film SLIME CITY, as well as its 2010 sequel SLIME CITY MASSACRE; the 1992 vampire film UNDYING LOVE; the 1995 psycho thriller NAKED FEAR; and he recently completed directing the horror comedy DRY BONES.  In addition, he has worked on I WAS A TEENAGE ZOMBIE; PLUTONIUM BABY; BRAIN DAMAGE; WEST NEW YORK; MODEL HUNGER; and BATTLEDOGS.  His novels include the occult detective series The Jake Helman Files, the werewolf series The Frenzy Cycle, and JOHNNY GRUESOME, winner of the IPPY Gold Medal for Horror.  He is also the author of the instructional filmmaking book CHEAP SCARES: LOW BUDGET HORROR FILMMAKERS SHARE THEIR SECRETS.  His website is www.gregorylamberson.com.

CRAIG LINDBERG is a professional special make-up effects artist based in New York City.  Some of the big features and TV series he’s worked on include ROYAL PAINS, BOARDWALK EMPIRE, ELEMENTARY, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, PERSON OF INTEREST, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, I AM LEGEND, WAR OF THE WORLDS, INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, SHUTTER ISLAND and WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN.  Two of his earliest projects were Gregory Lamberson’s UNDYING LOVE and NAKED FEAR, and he contributed effects to SLIME CITY MASSACRE.  For THE LEGEND OF SIX FINGERS, he is creating a sophisticated mask and matching claws for the title monster.

ANDREW ELIAS stars in THE LEGEND OF SIX FINGERS as Neil, one of the two documentary filmmakers investigating the evidence of “Six Fingers.”  Because Andrew (Sam Qualiana) is off camera for much of the film – operating the camera – Neil is front and center most of the time.  Elias co-starred in Qualiana’s first feature, SNOW SHARK: ANCIENT SNOW BEAST, and has appeared in many of the filmmaker’s 100+ short films, so they have strong chemistry.  Elias also appeared in BATTLEDOGS.

CHRIS RADOS is a grip/gaffer, and owns and operates the equipment rental house Western New York Grip & Electric.   He was a co-producer and lighting director on DRY BONES, and recently worked on the feature THE ROMANS.

BUDGET

THE LEGEND OF SIX FINGERS is a micro-budget film, but that’s all we need.  Qualiana will shoot the film on 140 acres of land owned by his family, and he and Elias are the principal actors.  He will also edit the film.  Contributions will pay for food and gas for the cast and crew, the creation of the title monster, and the day rate for our guest stars.  Additional materials needed include HD tape stock and multiple hard drives.  Your donations will be well spent.

ASSURANCE

Anyone who spends any time investigating crowd funding sites quickly realizes that there is no guarantee than any of the projects seeking backers will ever be completed, and many of them aren’t.  Qualiana’s SNOW SHARK: ANCIENT SNOW BEAST was partly funded via IndieGoGo, and so was Lamberson’s DRY BONES.  SNOW SHARK screened at film festivals, and had DVD distribution lined up before it even premiered.  Lamberson recently completed DRY BONES and believes it’s the best film he’s directed.   Our goals are to make the best film we can, to complete it in a timely manner, and to see it distributed.  Your name will appear on a film that people will see, not on a project that will vanish into the ether.  We hope this means more to you than the perks you typically see offered to backers.
