The Music - A Big Band, Gypsy Jazz Rendezvous
We are creating a new genre
of music, a fusion of big band and gypsy jazz, and we are recording it
in the birthplace of gypsy jazz: Paris, France. Most of the tunes on The Mystery of Love, In Paris album will be reinterpretations by big band arranger, Austin Smith, of Julie Wilde's gypsy jazz songs, from her original The Mystery of Love album (2011).

Julie wrote many of these tongue and cheek, flirtatious, vintage-inspired
love songs while leading her jazz-manouche "Bohemian Dream Band", in
Savannah, GA. It was while debuting her album in Paris, and working with
musicians there, that she and Austin began to imagine a big band album based on these gypsy jazz songs.
Austin arranged a few of the tunes for
Ron Meza's Parisian "High Definition Big Band". Upon hearing the
exhilarating sounds of these early readthroughs, we knew we had to
produce a full album, and that we had found the perfect players to do
it.

Where Your Contribution Will Go
To meet the size and equipment needs of recording a big band, we will be utilizing one of the most reputable studios in Paris: Studio Davout.
In addition, the funds we raise on Indiegogo will go towards hiring
the 16 extraordinary musicians in the "High Definition Big Band", as well
as the featured gypsy-jazz players on accordion, guitar and violin. Other
expenses will include mixing and mastering, album artwork, CD printing
and distribution.
Regardless of the amount of funds raised, we are committed to making a minimum
4-track EP. Our $25,000 goal will allow us to cover the basic expenses to record a 7-song album, which will include new music by Austin Smith and Julie Wilde. If we meet our stretch goal of $35,000, we will be able to produce our desired full length, 12-song LP.
None of the funds raised on Indiegogo will go towards our
personal or travel expenses in Paris.
