Who We Are
My name is Ashley Fruno and for 3 years, I have been caring for dogs and cats at a bus station and depressed community in Pasay City, the Philippines. What started out as caring for half a dozen animals, now has expanded greatly. There are approximately 80 dogs and cats in this small area.
Every Saturday morning, I lead a team of caring individuals to this impoverished neighborhood to provide basic care to the animals who call this area home, including meeting their basic veterinary needs, such as parasite control, preventing infections in minor wounds, treating illnesses, giving flea and tick prevention, and curing skin conditions like sarcoptic mange or fungal infections. We also provide food, love, baths, walks for chained dogs, toys, and when owners agree to give their animal a better life, adoption.
Why We Need Your Help
I have been largely solely financial responsible for the care of the animals in this area. However, these expenses have grown beyond my means. I have successfully spayed and neutered many of the animals in this area, but there are about 60 still waiting. For my birthday this year, I would like to see the rest of the area’s animals be fixed.
The Impact of Your Contribution
Not only does spaying and neutering reduce future expenses of caring for this pack and helps control the population of dogs and cats, it also aids the people in the area. Spaying and neutering also reduces aggression in animals, as well as their risk of reproductive cancers. Most importantly, the people in the impoverished area don’t have to worry about feeding litters of puppies and kittens.
In the grand scheme of things, the number of animals we care for is small, but for each of these animals and their owners, it changes their world. Please help!
Extra funds leftover from this fundraising drive will be used to provide treatment for sarcoptic mange, which is a terrible problem for dogs in rural areas of the Philippines, and to provide deworming treatment to 300 working horses on the island of Taal volcano.
**Please note: Donations via PayPal (the second option on the next page) are preferred as we receive the PayPal funds immediately (which means we can spay/neuter animals immediately!). Funds sent through credit card via this site will sent to us at the end of the drive in August**
