Meet the Periodic Calendar...
![The Periodic Calendar The Periodic Calendar]()
Modeled on the Periodic Table of Elements, the Periodic Calendar uses a previously ignored dimension within our conception of time to reveal the full landscape of possible days and become a fully functional perpetual calendar capable of exploring the past, present and future!
While the best way to get to know the Periodic Calendar is to have a 16"x38" print of it right in front of you, there are a number of ways for you to acquaint yourself with it now, including below with A Taste of the Periodic Calendar.
Meanwhile, over at www.PeriodicCalendar.com you will always find the latest news and research into this new calendar system, including a copy you can zoom into for a closer look and the first episode of our Quick Start Series: Will the Real Fourth of July Please Stand Up? Finally, on a daily basis we will be covering each element as they appear on the P-Cal Blog, along with discussions on how holidays and other observances should be handled in the Periodic Age.
The Periodic Calendar is new to us all and I hope you join in as we explore this new way to look at time...
The "Who?", "What?" and "Why?"
My name is Joey Sellers and I'm a writer and conceptual artist originally from Memphis, TN, who currently lives in San Francisco by way of Brooklyn.
Ape Con Myth is a conceptual art think tank I started in 2007. It's far more difficult to explain than the calendar, but if you are interested, www.ApeConMyth.com is always waiting for you with new wonders.
Suffice to say, one tradition that has developed over the years is the Ape Con Myth calendar. Usually a less than functional variation on the traditional wall calendar, this year's offering blows all of its predecessors off the wall.
Why should you contribute to the first major calendar debut of the 21st century?
- Whether you use it or not, it will look great on your wall 365 days a year. Sometimes even 366.
- When was the last time someone offered to unlock a new dimension of time for you?
- As a perpetual calendar, it pays for itself in one year, yet can be passed on for generations to come.
This is the last calendar anyone needs until we leave Earth and start orbiting other suns!
The "How Much Do I Need?" and "What's In It For You?"
The basic goal of this campaign is to raise $1,000 to cover some of the printing costs of the first edition. It's not the full amount, it's just how much I'm short, so your contribution will go directly to paying the printer and keeping Ape Con Myth and myself out of debt.
In return, there are some great perks available:
- Top among them are prints of the calendar itself. Don't miss the early bird special!
- With the Personal Party Pack, you get a calendar, a commemorative magnet for your fridge, a button AND magnet featuring your very own Birth Element, plus a personal Thank You for your generous support!
- Only three sets are available, but if you hurry, you could get "The Archive", which features all 5 Ape Con Myth calendars ever produced, covering 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 and now with the Periodic Calendar, forever!
The "Please Spread the Word" and "Stay Tuned"
After three long months of development, including two or three weeks now (I can’t remember) of working 10-14 hour days to get the Periodic Calendar’s 13,008 individual little pieces just so, making sure all the numbers check out and getting it ready for press, I’m sliding/collapsing into day one of this campaign with a video, a one page website and a hope that YOU will help me get the ball rolling these first few days by spreading the word!
There are sharing buttons in every direction, so please, take a moment and locate the closest exit your favorite social network.
Meanwhile, stay tuned because there will be steady updates here and over at www.PeriodicCalendar.com throughout this campaign.
Your support is greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you for your time and consideration!
Sincerely,
Joey Sellers

A Taste of the Periodic Calendar
With the Periodic Calendar, you can explore the past...
... jet into the future...
...or dig right into the present.
Below you can see that 2013 is orange...
...which matches right up with the color-code you’ll find at every level of the Periodic Calendar...
...and tells us that 2013 is a Tuesday Year. That is, 2013 begins on a Tuesday, which brings us to the idea at the heart of this calendar.
Years can begin on any of the seven days of the week, which is why your birthday falls on different day of the week from year to year. Whatever day the year begins on creates a distinct layout of days, weeks and months that the Periodic Calendar refers to as the seven Year Types.
Here’s our Tuesday Year, with active elements in color and inactive ones in gray...
... and now to bring it all together!
Don't worry if it all doesn't make sense the first time. It might take a few years or even decades to get the hang of The Periodic Calendar, (I mean, it's going to take seven years to get through all the Year Types once) but that's just one of the reasons that this is the last calendar you will ever need!
For now, if you want to fall down the rabbit hole a little further, head over to
www.PeriodicCalendar.com and use the above instructions to find your Birth Element. If you need some assistance, tweet your birthday to
@PeriodicCal and I'll help you find it!
