Hello!

Welcome to the official Indiegogo for The Phebe Project, an independent production of the play Ephebophilia, written by Dusty Wilson and directed by Clint Worthington.

THE PLAY

Ephebophilia follows a young couple, Imogen and Jackson, who are on the verge of losing their home in the midst of the 2008 housing crisis. In a desperate attempt to save their house from foreclosure, they decide to find, lure and extort money from unsuspecting sexual predators. Along the way, young Imogen, torn between her real and online identities, searches for the truth in her own relationships. Ephebophilia was a finalist in On the Brink Productions Search For the Next Great (Young) American Playwright, and was a finalist in Quiet Productions New Works Festival.

Ephebophilia is a fascinating new work that blurs the lines between reality and fantasy, as scenes wander seamlessly between the real world and the cold, alienating world of the Internet. Playing with themes of identity, truth and the influence of media on our lives, the characters of the play all search for ways to reconcile who they are with what they can do - a Lolita for the digital age.

THE PRODUCTION

The story of bringing Ephebophilia to the stage has been a long and dramatic one. Having spent the past year or so in the pre-production stage with a previous theatre company (even going so far as to have actors cast, designers hired and a space reserved), the production was suddenly left without a home when, due to unforeseen circumstances, the company was forced to dissolve.

However, not being the type to let such unfortunate events stop us, the production team decided to keep going - we took over the reservation of our performance space (Collaboraction, at the Flat Iron Building in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago) and chose to produce it independently under the name The Phebe Project.

The world of producing independent theatre can be difficult; however, we believe so much in the strength of Dusty WIlson's evocative, compelling work, as well as the stellar talent we have both on and off stage, that we felt we could not stop now. With your help, we can make this production a reality.
