A travelling unicorn you say?!
Ebony aka Ebs (or @Ebswearspink if you’re from the twitterverse) is a 27 year old blogger, tweeter, and now vlogger who is bringing three months of a world-wide adventure all together in a blog, vlogs and a unicorn onesie.
The travelling unicorn will be a blog and vlog series that seeks to reveal honest, real and passionate stories of the people that Ebs encounters on her travels. It also seeks to bring together a community online and offline that are passionate about travel, spontaneity and all things fun and happy.
Where's the money going to?
So, I've have chucked all my savings into an around the world ticket and living cheaply for 3 months but I need your help with making the blog/vlog series happen.
I've estimated the funding at $1800 because i'm being optimistic at what people want to contribute to this project.
Where will the money go?
- $1249 for a macbook air (otherwise I'll be putting together the videos with my ipad and let's be frank, the quality won't be as good);
- $50 for domain name and hosting;
- $200 for website development and logo;
- $200 for 'join the journey' merchandise, e.g. I'm thinking of postcards and/or business cards I can give to people along the way so that they can follow the journey; and
- the extra bit (stopped counting, unicorns aren't really into counting) will be the extra padding indiegogo takestakes as commission.
If we go over the amount listed I'll consult some geeks on what other cool things I can add the money to a la travelling unicorn style.
And what, do you get?
Well, your unique perks are gonna be pretty unique. I'm Aboriginal, my mum's an artist and this is a unicorn project so basically think all kinds of creative awesome as thank yous.
If I don't reach the goal
Shit, I'm just shocked that people like my idea of interviewing random people whilst overseas wearing a unicorn onesie.
If I don't reach the goal, I'll put the money towards the infrastructure I've already purchased for the blog because quite frankly, I didn't realise people would be supportive of this until a techie, geeky and now friendy person of mine said "crowdfund it" and then other people agreed.
The Impact
Like my friend Kristian who has started a vlog series called "Happy Mondays", I want to take a break from the seriousness of life and spread some happiness across the interwebs.
I also want to take Indigenous digital excellence or #IndigenousDX to a whole nother level. I want to get out there and talk to people about my culture and learn about the cultures of other people.
I also think that when taking the onesie away, it will be interesting for you guys, as viewers and participants in the series, to see the way I, as an Aboriginal Australian, sees the world.
Can't spare a dollar?!
Once again don't blame you. You're probably getting contacted by people every day to donate to something and really a girl in a unicorn onesie? Well, that shit cray.
Anyhoo if you can't contribute I'd still love you to share the info about my campaign on facebook and twitter with your friends, families and monopoly tycoon friends who may or may not have won second place in a beauty pageant.
Also, if this blog/vlog takes off, I'd love you to follow on twitter and join in the conversation on the blog and facebook.
Thanks for taking the time to read about my campaign!
