A group of 80 year old women-turned-filmmakers from Seattle have created a vibrant, animated documentary and graphic novel to tell the true stories of their secret abduction as children by the Soviet government during World War II - an unreported and tragic fate shared by over 1 million women and children. Meeting their fundraising goal will enable them to donate a combined total of up to 1200 graphic novels and DVDs, entitled "A Trip to Nowhere", to over 600 libraries and educational institutions. These materials were created to appeal to audiences of all generations and are intended to shed light on this little- known part of World War II history.

The women involved in this production represent a small number of the more than 1.7 million women and children taken from their homes in the middle of the night by the NKVD (Soviet Secret Police) and sent to Siberian labor camps. Only 125,000 made it to freedom with more than 1 million dying from starvation and extreme temperatures. This mass abduction and deportation by the Soviet government was part of an effort to rid Soviet occupied Eastern Poland of its intelligentsia. The women and children were the families of the massive group of influential Eastern Polish professionals arrested by the NKVD months earlier.
" [A Trip to Nowhere] is a document that can engage in serious discussions about war, betrayal, propaganda, balance of powers and most certainly about the strength of culture." - NOWY DZIENNIK, Polish Daily News, NYC

Intentionally left out of World War II history books
President Roosevelt knew about these abductions, but chose to look the other way because the United States needed Stalin's help in fighting the Japanese. Many of the survivors were forced to sign documents vowing to keep this event a secret. But now, more than 60 years later, many of those still living have decided to come forward and tell the truth of what really happened to so many young and innocent people.
This small group of survivors have made it their mission to get this story out - a part of history that has been intentionally omitted from the history books. It is important for these personal stories to be shared before they are lost forever.
Your contributions will help get this important story, graphic novels and DVDs into libraries and educational institutions around the world.
