Based on collective planning to respond to the verdict in the Trayvon Martin trial, organizations working with the Southern Movement Assembly are calling for immediate action with clear demands. We would like to invite you to collaborate and show the combined force of all our efforts to end genocide and build a just world.

We are planning a Walk for Dignity from Jacksonville FL to Sanford FL – July 22-27

The Walk for Dignity will connect neighbors and communities to Southern Freedom Movement in the 21st century. We will rely on donations of food, water, and lodging space as much as possible. Many folks are contributing by funding their own travel to Florida.

The Walk is also a rapid response action to a defining moment of rage and grief that could either paralyze us or galvanize our movements for effective action. We need support from the people who recognize that we are not only capable of resisting these attacks but also building our own power. We need everyone.

Please walk with us by supporting a critical piece of the journey.

We need about $20,000 to make this happen.

Any funds raised over and above the needs of the march will be contributed to the New Jim Crow Movement working for  Florida families fighting on these frontlines and to the family’s Trayvon Martin Foundation.

$750 is about the cost of one person on the walk. If you can’t make it because of scheduling consider supporting someone who has the time and the will but not the means.

$25 = 8 water spray bottles (it's July in North Florida!) and a set of bandanas

$50 = a tank of gas (x6 for recon; x10 for Community Advance Team)

$100 – Gas cards

$100 – Grocery cards

$100 = 50 umbrellas for shade and art

$200 = first aid kits and sunscreen

$800 = 1 van rental & gas to get there (3 from Atlanta, 1 from Dothan AL, 1 from South Carolina)

$1,000 = video & live streaming equipment

$2,000 = plane tickets for organizers and supporters

$6,000 = well-earned meals for hungry walkers and water all day long
