Short Summary
Millions
of men, women and children suffer from chronic pelvic and sexual pain
conditions around the world. There is a need to form a global non-profit
to provide advocacy, education and resources for these patients and for the
community. We are using this campaign to
fund the initial start-up costs to start a non profit called Bridge for Pelvic
Pain.
What We Need & What You Get
We
need $5,000 in initial start up costs to build the infrastructure right the
first time so that the minute we have filed our 501c(3) we can focus on our
mission and programs to help patients with chronic pelvic and sexual pain
conditions. Here is a breakdown of the
areas the money will go:
·
Hiring
a non-profit attorney to assist with filling out the necessary paperwork, legal
advice and for processing all of our non profit paperwork for filing
·
Creating
and hosting a secure website so that resources and information can be shared as
well as ensuring that all on-line donations will be safe
·
Hiring
an IT security specialist. (Cue the music from “The Matrix”)
·
Hiring
a non-profit accountant to ensure that we put all of those funding dollars to
good use-all while following GAAP. (Don't worry about the fancy acronym. Just know this means we are 'in
the know' about credits and debits and the difference between being in the red
or in the black.)
·
Purchasing
a dedicated and secure P.O. Box for non-profit communication and to ensure
donations that are sent via the hands of the mail system arrive safely
·
Purchasing
a basic laptop and printer
·
Hiring
a graphic designer to bring our vision into reality for all of our marketing
and branding designs. (You really don't want to see my chicken scratch
illustrations!)
·
Here is where the money
will go if we do not reach $5,000: legal filing fees to file the 501 © (3)
documentation and purchasing a secure P.O. Box.
The Impact
Pelvic and
sexual pain is real and it affects millions of people around the world. Funding this campaign to start a new global
focused non-profit committed to providing hope and resources to these many
patients and educating the medical community is both vital and necessary. Your contribution is the first step towards
helping people suffering from these debilitating pain conditions.
Carin Willis lived with chronic
pelvic pain conditions for many years and has spent the past four and half
years connecting with patients worldwide through her website and blog: www.icpbssupport.com It
is from these connections that she began increasing her knowledge about chronic
pelvic pain, the latest research on integrative medicine , and conducting
interviews with doctors and medical specialists who specialize in treating
chronic pelvic pain conditions.
For over
two years, Carin has been working on educating herself about effectively
running a non-profit, speaking with patients about where there is a need for
best supporting them and helping to define what programs would help them the
most with a newly formed non-profit, as well as strengthening relationships
within the pelvic pain community. Many
people suffer from these conditions but: 'There is always hope!'
