Through unique imagery, mixing myth and symbolism from different cultures our movie follows the struggle of two big city children as they try to make sense of the world around them. Innocent prisoners of the many ills and misconceptions of our modern society, Philip (8) and Lili (13) embark on a painful journey in search of meaning, beauty and their own souls.
We started filming at the beginning of October and film through December 12th. Please help us raise $30,000 for our camera package, to pay for food, insurance and fuel. While it would be great to meet our Indiegogo goal and pay our cast and crew, we keep making our movie and need any help for our day to day expenses. Thank you!
DARE EXPERIENCE THE WORLD THE WAY CHILDREN SEE IT
...without preconceptions and common division by labeling. To acknowledge how kids avoid and debunk the rules through touch and play, through dance and genuine curiosity. Why are their minds so tranquil and independent and why do our adult minds become so rational that we lose touch with spontaneity, the joy of discovery and life itself?
Our
film explores the importance of learning through play and experience. In the
opening scene, a child looks down from an airplane over the city at night and
says, “This is my playground.” Children are free to roam and transform reality.
Reality is clay. And children are capable of transforming our world, through
play, into their own playground. Are we free enough to do the same when we grow
up?
WHO ARE WE
Bogdan
directs and produces films. Matt, our director of photography, lights films on
fire. No, he doesn't light them on fire, but actually paints every scene with
light. Mariya dances, creates unique costumes and sets from second-hand and
recycled materials. Ana-Maria dances, currently studies Communications and is
our public relations girl. Alder and Jeremiah shape-shift. Iglika is born to
play. Lily is here from LA for two months to be in the film. Our work together bonds us as a family. We love what
we do. A few months ago we decided to quit waiting for the money to come. We
started walking, because if we didn't, then we wouldn't be here.
Our
director, Bogdan Darev, has been directing children in film since 2008. His 30
minute film “Lost and (Puget) Sound” has been screening at schools in the
Seattle area and was awarded Best Youth Film at the Colorado Environmental Film
Festival. He recently completed a documentary called "Give" on the
importance of giving to each other. Bogdan's clients include Seattle Opera,
Hope for Heroism and other non-profits.
Producer,
Alder is an actor, producer and writer and on the board of Women in Film,
Seattle. Alder is an enthusiastic actor, producer and writer whose goal is to
produce films that ignite the spirit through imagination, emotional journey and
visual stimulus.
Cinematographer,
Matthew Skala, is a dedicated and experienced artist with over 50
cinematographer credits including three feature films. He is completely
committed to collaboration and serving the story and director with the most
expressive images possible.
Production and Costume Designer, Mariya Apostolova, has been working behind the
scenes since 2008. With half a dozen short films, several featurettes and
a feature film under her belt she is thrilled to work on a film with a message
dear to her heart.

contributions will help us make our movie. Because we have a non-profit status we get money deposited
through Indiegogo on a weekly bases for the duration of our fundraiser. Your
donation will impact the making of our film RIGHT NOW. Your donation is
tax-deductable through our partnership with the Bulgarian Cultural and Heritage

We
have also partnered up with Bates Technical College. Our film is part of the
fall curriculum in the college. Students of all levels are working on the film
to get hands-on experience, to learn through play!
