About

My name is Jeffrey Sincich.  I have just graduated from the University of Florida with a BFA in Ceramics.  Choosing to study art has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.  I have found myself in some extraordinary situations because of it and could not be happier!  Alongside art is my passion for cycling.  I began cycling in high school by being introduced to track bikes and alleycats.  This love has spread to bicycle touring.  My love for art and cycling has culminated in an amazing opportunity: a three-week long bicycle tour from Portland, OR to San Francisco, CA to research tourism and the Great American West Coast for my future artwork starting on June 18.  I was awarded a Regina Brown Undergraduate Fellowship through the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) to help fund and complete this tour (alongside my longtime, best friend Derek).  As fantastic as this may be, I still need a little more help to make this dream a reality.  This is where you come in!

 What I Need

To make this tour happen I am going to need another $800 from generous supporters like you.  As I am sure you already know, a recent graduate from college is the perfect storm of running out of money.  Things like travel expenses, cycling specific clothing/gear and the cold, wet Pacific Northwest weather, which requires specific camping gear, adds up quick.  I also plan to keep a blog throughout the duration of the trip so my friends, family and contributors like you can follow Derek and me along our journey.  Of course, this requires a lightweight, technological option, such as a tablet (i.e. iPad or similar device).  It is important for me that I can share this amazing experience with as many people as possible.

What You Get

To make it easier for you to help me, I have added some great perks!  For just $10 you will be getting a personal postcard sent to you from somewhere awesome on our bike tour!  For $50 you will not only be getting a postcard, but a unique, never before seen to you (I hope!) souvenir or artifact from somewhere on the tour!  WOW!  This could include a trolley car bobble head from San Francisco or a giant pinecone from the Redwood Forest.  Imagine the possibilities…   Are you ready for this?  For $100 you will be receiving a postcard AND a handmade, by me, ceramic cup with a drawing inspired by the tour on it!!!  WHOA, BUDDY!  Imagine drinking out of a cup every morning/afternoon/night that was made especially for you!  If just one of these is not enough for you, which I can totally understand, for $200, you will receive a postcard, a handmade, ceramic cup and a souvenir!  Talk about the ultimate gift package!  And of course, I will appreciate everything and anything you can contribute, from $1 to $1000.

 The Impact

This tour is meant to help me explore the things that inspire my work the most.  My desire to travel, continue cultural traditions such as folklore and folk music and appreciate the land that we have in the good ol’ United States is what drives me to make the work that I do.  Bicycle touring is a unique form of tourism, with little environmental impact, time to smell the roses (literally) and a chance to interact with the local communities in a way that almost no other form of tourism provides.  On this trip, I plan to see the sights and sounds that attract others and me to the Mighty West Coast and translate this into my artwork, which can be seen at www.jeffreysincich.com.

I hope that you can help me with this endeavor, whether it is through contributing what you can monetarily or by sharing this link on Facebook, email, word of mouth, Twitter or anything else you can think of.  Thank you for your time and I hope you follow my blog of the trip through my website!
