Toolkit Festival
Festival of Interactive Art
Venice, May 9-10-11 2013
--
Toolkit Festival is a project created by Martin Romeo and wants to be a synonym of interaction between multimedia art, a branch of contemporary art often reserved to experts of the field, and a wide audience made by public institutions, universities and young minds from all over Europe. Since its first edition (Venice, 2011), it proposes a selected mapping of the most contemporary researches of the sector. The title for the third edition of Toolkit Festival, which will occur in Venice on May 9-10-11 2013, is “Contemplative Pathways”
More than 200 artists from 34 different countries replied to the international call for artists and compared with the previous year the number of international applicants exponentially increased. We got applications from the United States, Mexico, Brazil, France, Ukraine, Turkey, South Korea and many more. The main objective is the artistic research, driving force of the festival, pursued by giving space to young and talented emerging artists who operate in Italy and in Europe in the field of New Media Art. The research will be developed in three different areas: Installation, Audio/Visual Performance and Live Media.
The rich cultural offer of Toolkit Festival will propose three days of interactive exhibitions, concerts of experimental music and contemporary dance performances with the intent of making the project accessible to a vast audience. Running alongside, a great importance has been attributed to the didactic aspects and to the personal formation through workshops with artists and a series of conferences with experts of interactive arts.
Unfortunately, the widespread economic crisis and the consequent lack of funds (from both private and public institutions) has put the third edition in danger and with that, all the efforts of the volunteers and the artists involved. But we have not given up yet.
