Bring Tumbl-Con USA 2014 to life!

Hosting a convention is not something any of us saw in ourselves.  For a while, a Tumblr convention was just a half-shaped idea one caught a wiff of every once in a while when a stray post or two drifted onto their dash.  Breathing life into this idea has been something all of us staff members have been working tirelessly for over the last month or so; unfortunately, there is only so much passion you can put into starting a business before the real work comes crashing down on your shoulders. Mainly, we have to deal with the government and money. We can take care of the legal aspect, but money is, unfortunately, not something a group of 20-somethings really have in abundance. This is where you can help! If just a hundred of our nearly 4,000 Tumblr followers donate a mere ten dollars, we would have enough money to get us on our feet, pay for some of the software we need, file additional forms, and pay fees for applying for more grants on top of the few for which we have already applied.  Keep in mind that this money is merely a start-up fund, and we will have a larger fundraiser in the future.  This is to supply a strong foundation to get our convention off the ground.

We need your help to get us settled logistically; we need just enough to make sure we can make this happen, for you, for us, and for all of Tumblr. Please consider donating ten dollars, or, if you're feeling generous, even more.  This would give us the capital we need so we can get to a point when we can start selling tickets and establishing a dealer room, artist alley, and more.  Ultimately, we would get this con up and running more quickly and more smoothly.

We appreciate all the help and support you have given us so far, and we look forward to your continued input as we plan what will be the most amazing convention you have ever attended.

Our Plan

As you can tell from above, we have big dreams, and we have already started down the road of making those into a reality. As of March 14th 2013, our papers are with the government, and we are awaiting our approval for becoming a legal LLP, searchable on the busines databases; our own entity. This is an imporant first step, but there are many more smaller ones on the way in the future. We have more legal forms to fill out, people to contact, contracts to sign, and that is why we are looking to you for donations. 

The Team

Tumbl-Con USA is run by a small team of concentrated administrators, all hard working and willing to do what it takes to get this convetnion off the ground. Between us we have 10+ years of con volunteering experience, and hours upon hours of higher education, much of which is aimed at planning conventions just like this one.
