Short Summary
My name is Dr. Joanne Clemente and I have spent my career in Educational Technology-- as a teacher, professor and distance learning administrator. I started volunteering in Uganda almost 5 years ago to share what I know, and to extend good ole American enthusiasm, support and care to the endearing children in Uganda. Please join me in opening the world of knowledge to these children by bringing low-cost, "connected" technology to support their curriculum. They are the future leaders who, with the proper education, can build a future, and become full participants in the global economy. Give them a chance.
What We Need & What You Get
Ventures for Good Foundation was
established to serve the underserved whether they be in Africa or the US. I
graciously invite you all to participate in bringing attention to areas in the
world that have been marginalized. Working in Uganda has opened my eyes to the
inequities that exist and I decided to make a difference. By helping me to
address the education in Uganda, you are making a difference too.
All the money raised goes directly
to bringing education and low-cost technology to these teachers and
children, to establish “connections” where none exist. Small stipends will be
paid to African teachers to continue the work because we want them to
participate in the creation of new possibilities. No volunteer is paid for
transportation, lodging or a stipend.
In this campaign, I would like to
raise $25,000.00. It will go a long way to making this project visible and
track-able by the Ministry of Education and Government officials in Uganda. Whether
or not we settle on this technology for the long haul (technology changes
constantly), the important goal remains the same: open the world’s knowledge
resources to those in need so that they can solve their own problems and become
contributing members of the global economy. These children, in the foreseeable
future, will be the country’s leaders and entrepreneurs. Without these
opportunities, countries like Uganda will fall further behind and become huge debilitating
forces in the world, furthering the lack of education, pollution and disease.
What happens on one side of the world impacts all of us, wherever we live and
breathe. The impact is huge.
