Just to give you a little insight about me, I am much better at expressing myself in writing, so I hope you enjoy the blooper reel. So now that we have that cleared up...
In 2008, I did a lot of shopping online. I lived in Stillwater, Oklahoma where I had limited access to all of the boutiques I had come to love growing up in Florida. I was searching for some fashionable eco-friendly clothing like Stella McCartney, but without the Stella McCartney price tag. I searched and searched only to find that cute eco-friendly clothing was hard to come by, let alone affordable. I started to wonder why isn't there an online boutique for women like me? Then I thought... why don't I just create it myself?
I loved the idea of creating a store that reflected both my Spanish heritage and my eco-friendly point of view. I came up with verrrde. Verde in Spanish means green and the three R's represent the famous mantra, "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle".
I created verrrde.com as a lifestyle blog and come Spring 2014 I will add e-commerce to the site that will focus on eco-friendly clothing. I have a marketing strategy and a great team which I like to call my Think Tank. Now all we need are clothes to fill the pages! With your generous contributions, we will have enough to buy our merchandise (with a focus on dresses, tops, and accessories) for the first quarter Spring 2014.
I have done a lot of research finding wholesalers who offer clothing using renewable resources, recycled materials, and who are also committed to making the planet a better place to live. All items sold will be under $100, making eco-friendly clothing more accessible to the everyday woman. I have been in the retail business for over 7 years and I am a master at being thrifty and fashionable.
As with any business, you have to account for delayed items, not getting enough inventory, having too much inventory, website kinks, and overall mayhem. I have worked in both large and small retail companies. Being an online company, we are very flexible to the demands of consumers. We will be able to reach a broader base than a stand alone brick and mortar shop plus we will be accessible 24 hours a day. Working as a stylist has made me confident in my buying/curating abilities. I also have a wonderful team who can help me with any issues from taxes to web design to social media marketing.
I look forward to saving you a little green while going green. I have lined up some great rewards that you will not only love but will leave your friends verrrde with envy. :)
