This is a software project for the Oculus Rift, a virtual reality headset that allows you to step into a different reality.

Since late 2012 I have been working on a Virtual Lounge concept, which enables you to interact with your friends in various ways, and get a lot of cool experiences.

The funding goal will allow me to realize all the features I want for VirtuaView
Below I will try to describe what I am working to achieve with the funding.

(EDIT:  I sometimes mistakingly refer to VirtuaView as The Virtual Cinema or cinema. Sorry about the confusion. There are only Two parts:

VirtuaView and Virtual Lounge)

VirtuaView

Movie Theatre

Imagine being able to sign into VirtuaView with your friends to watch a football game or a movie on any size screen you want. Any media. You can look at each other and see where the other is looking and where he/she is pointing. 

As long as you both have access to the same url stream, file or physical media, it will sync up and allow you to watch it and talk about it.

Education

Imagine the possibilities for education, where a teacher can bring their students on a field trip into space or back in time to a historical event.

The students can interact with each other, the teacher, and the world/scene itself. The first concept I have to show is a mini solar system, designed to illustrate the potential for teaching astronomy.

Engineering

Engineers can have virtual meetings where they can upload models that can be interacted with. They can hold it in front of each other and point to very specific parts of it with their virtual hands.

No other teleconferencing can offer this level of interaction.

Meetings/Conferences

Just like all the other examples, my software will allow for a very dynamic interaction between speaker and audience. Augmented with video, live motion and descriptive models.

Virtual Lounge

Depending on how well I do on my fundraising, I will be able to release an increasing amount of features for the Virtual Lounge as well.

If I dont make get the funding I need for this, I will integrate what I already have into VirtuaView even tho it was supposed to be a standalone app.

I have also made a virtual gaming museum (you can see some preview of the a few of the consoles in the video) , gallery, wax museum and arcade. The Virtual Lounge may or may not be a part of VirtuaView depending on how much funding I get. 

As long as I have the platform I have built now, It is nearly limitless how much content can be added.

The concept for the Virtual Lounge is that you can log in there and walk around with your friends. 

Some of the floors will have content that are non commercial. Such as a gallery where upcoming artists can display their art

Some content will be commercial, but you must actively seek it out and it must be entertaining in itself. I promise its going to be cool!

The Virtual Arcade I have built will feature old school arcade cabinets featuring actual playable games, custom indie games and some will have just video footage from games depending on licencing issues.

I am really looking forward to designing an arcade cabinet for an indie game.
