The Impact
"The Wages of Spin" II is the sequel to "The Wages of Spin" which chronicled The Philadelphia Music Scene from 1952 thru 1963. "The Wages of Spin" explored the genesis of Bandstand, the original host Bob Horn, the hosting transition from Horn to Dick Clark, Bandstand evolving into American Bandstand, the artists who appeared on American Bandstand, the relationship between Clark and the independent record labels in Philadelphia, the methods employed by Clark to extract patronage (payola) from artists and their management in exchange for appearances on American Bandstand and the subsequent congressional hearings into payola. "The Wages of Spin" has been aired over 600 times on PBS affiliates nationwide since June 2012 and is in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Archives. "WOS" has been featured in/on: Entertainment Tonight, Reuters (all affiliates), Imdb.com Studio Briefing, ABC World News Site, The National Inquirer, The New York Times and throughout several dozen other national media outlets.
