Hey Guys,

My name is Anke, I am a primary school teacher in South Africa and have been playing water polo all my life.

Following my performance in this year’s National Water Polo Tournament, I have been selected for the South African women’s team.  The team will compete in the FINA World Championships in late July 2013.  This is an important step for South Africa to qualify (for the very first time!) for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Sadly as a non-professional sport competing in the big league, we have no sponsors and we will have to pay our own way.  I need to raise enough money to cover the international flight, accommodation and food during the tournament.

It would be an absolute dream to compete at this level and I would like nothing more than to experience it with you… I will keep you updated every “stroke” of the way through all the blood, sweat, tears and triumphs.

Even a few dollars will help me on my way to Barcelona, to realise my dream of representing my country.
