What is WITCH?

WITCH tells the story of a troubled relationship between two young lovers who encounter a mysterious woman while going through a very public argument.  The couple helps the woman into her house where strange things begin to happen.  The seemingly sweet woman is not all that she appears to be leading our characters down a twisted and bloody path toward reconciliation.

The idea is to put a modern, realistic spin on traditional witch mythology while still holding true to aspects everyone is familiar with.  It changes when we take that familiarity and turn the story into something unexpected, completely altering the trajectory.  The result will be a frightening, hellish experience both psychologically and physically for not just our characters but the audience as well.

Who are we? 

WITCH is the directorial debut of the writing and directing team of Americo Siller and Tyler Mager.  They work in the Austin independent film industry doing everything from camera to art department to production assistant work.   This film was born out of a desire to tell a relatively basic story in a way that’s never been seen before utilizing some of their biggest cinematic influences in 70’s style horror.  

Kenneth Hoot is a first time producer on WITCH. He's just starting out in the film industry and wants to make his mark on this world. The medium of film is extremely powerful and his goal is to use that power to create images that will permeate the 3rd dimension forever.

How much do we need and for what?

We’ve been fortunate enough to raise some of the money necessary to make the film.  However, we are in need of just a little bit of help to ensure the final product is exactly what we are trying to make.  We’re asking for $6,000 to help pay the hard working crew what they deserve, location fees, some additional camera accessories, and special effects.

Being in the film industry means we know exactly what it’s like to work long hours for free.  No crew deserves that; they deserve to get paid at least something for the time, effort and hard work they put in.

We’re shooting WITCH with practical special effects which means lots of makeup and gore gags.  It’s extremely important that our very talented special effects team has access to all the resources they need to make our creatures look professional and believable.

What’s the end goal?

Upon completion we have a dedicated postproduction and festival entry budget that will help send WITCH to festivals all over the country.  During the festival run, we hope to garner enough interest to make a feature film version of WITCH.

This short is really just an introduction to a larger and more complex universe we have built that would continue on in not just a WITCH feature but other related projects as well.  The feature film would likely explore a completely different story but keep many of the elements you will see in the short. Wed’ love the opportunity to explore this universe and mythology we’ve created but it all starts with this short film.
