Hi.

So, those of you who know me know that I am, first and foremost, a tap dancer. I'm also an avid artist, writer, educator, and entrepreneur. I'm from Seattle but I'm currently living in Austin while performing on residency with Tapestry Dance Company ...and writing this 3-part book series.

What the Heck?

Maybe you're wondering:  How did I begin to take interest in writing motivational, self-help books?

  • In my 27 years of life, I've had over 20 reconstructive surgeries to correct birth defects. I live every single day of my life in full awareness of my differences - of the things I cannot change about myself, even if I wanted to. But you know what? I LOVE myself - exactly as I am, even though I must constantly practice acceptance. Every day, I wake up, choose to be okay, choose Love, and then I carry on with my ceaseless mission to create art, music, and writings that will uplift others and bring people together.

Withinspiration is one of these offerings. It is also my first foray into book publishing. I am thrilled to be taking these steps and cannot wait until I have the tangible books in my hands to start spreading around.

Publishing Date Goal.

I am working to have book one published by March 2014, but I'd like to be clear that this is a 'soft launch' goal because I want to be sensitive to the fact that there could be a few hiccups along the way - that's life! That said, for those of you selecting "THE BOOK" perk or anything below it, know that I will keep you updated every step of the way on my progress as well as any estimated launch changes.

The Money Goal.

In reality, self-publishing a book often runs in the $5k to $7k range, if one is to strategically allocate funds towards editing, design, and marketing.

I'm publishing three books!

I set this campaign goal at a low $1,500. On purpose.

I want it to be attainable. I want you to feel comfortable contributing whatever amount you can or desire.  (Plus, we all know that exceeding my pre-set goal is completely acceptable!)

The Money Potential.

If we exceed my $1,500 goal:

  • TIER 2   $1,500 - $6,000    =   Use for book one marketing, editing, and illustrating*
  • TIER 3    $6,000 - $12,000   =  Set aside for book two
  • TIER 4    $12,000 - $18,000  =  Set aside for books two and three
  • TIER 5    $18,000 +   =   Expand marketing plan; Purchase premium domain, Seek partnerships that will get these books in the hands of adults and teens in difficult life situations, free-of-charge; Research and possibly help fund Withinspiration App development.

*Know that I have some financial wiggle room because, typically, an author would also have to hire an illustrator. Since I'm wearing both hats, I am fully prepared to illustrate this book and bootstrap it uncompensated. That said, should any additional funds emerge above my $1,500 goal, I will first allocate them towards my marketing plan and then graciously 'pay the illustrator' (and she would be so happy about that!). As I mentioned in my campaign video, I have estimated that book one will take me 200 hours to illustrate due to the detailed nature of my art style. I will only begin to account for an illustration fee at a total intake that exceeds $2,000.

Your Assistance.

Your contribution would mean so much to me. Also, please know that whether you contribute or not, it is also immensely helpful for you to share this campaign with your friends!

Have any questions? I'd love to hear from you!
