Empowering & Educating Women

Move over male dominated auto industry, its time for a makeover! I'm Audra Fordin, 4th generation auto repair and auto body shop owner in one of NY’s toughest boroughs. I believe in compassion, fairness and the ultimate goal of bringing a woman's perspective to the game of automotive repair. I'm a NYC small business award winning, girl scout troop leader who juggles family life and running a fully staffed and successful repair shop. So what do I do in my free time? ( Free time? What free time?) I educate women on Auto Repair and what they should know about their cars. And it's caused quite a stir, catching the attention of people like the Today Show, ABC's The Lookout and American Express #PassionProject. I've realized, through the changes I've seen in my workshop attendees, that I can benefit so many more people by taking my mission outside of NY...so I took it nationwide. I launched Women Auto Know, knowing that as a group we could enable each other, that's countless women (alright, guys too) who could now find an auto shop in their area that won’t rip them off.

Through education, community feedback, and peer-to-peer support, we provide women everywhere with the confidence needed to save money and increase automobile performance. The campaign includes:

FREE membership for drivers. Auto Shops pay a small annual fee.

Peer to Peer Rank and Reviews of your local auto repair shops on everything from their trustworthiness to their cleanliness, and family attributes.

What We Need & What You Get

Women Auto Know's mission is taking the fear out of auto repair and that's why were here on Indiegogo. Up until now, I've been funding this out of my savings and it's been a slow process. I can't do this alone anymore. I need money to make this process move faster. I know this is something the public not only wants but NEEDS. Every dollar gives us the opportunity to continue to grow this nationwide. The funding will be used to cover the actual expenses such as: website maintenance/development, supplies and staff. While the funding goal for this campaign is set to $250,000, anything above and beyond that goal will be put towards additional workshops and events.

The Impact

With your help, the final pieces necessary to launch the movement and bridge the gap that separates the consumers and the auto industry can be built. When drivers post reviews, ranking auto repair shops, the impact is clear. Peer to peer support enables drivers to make smart repair choices through education and community feed back. Women Auto Know can and WILL make a difference.
