The Story

Z-MOVIE is an action-packed zomcom that follows four eclectic zombies — Mara, Matt, Jack, and Kate — as they set out to find the elusive cure to become human again. Despite their differences, they realize they must work together to infiltrate the heavily-fortified Hunter Headquarters, escape hordes of savage humans, and fight the hunters, especially Dominic, in order to succeed. Along the way, the four learn more about themselves, each other, and what it truly means to be "human".

We really wanted to explore the zombie genre from a different perspective and bring the characters to life (pun intended). It's a story about embracing one's differences, teamwork, and the discovery of friendship and family in unexpected places.

Jonathan Ho — Director

"It is not only a story about zombies but, more importantly, about friendship and camaraderie in a world against our protagonists."

Fresh off directing several short films and even his own half-feature last summer, Jonathan brings experience in both the creative and technical sides of film to this project. He continues to be extremely dedicated to the story and has big plans to bring his vision of the Z-MOVIE world to life. He is currently studying International Relations and Cinematic Arts at USC.

Sydney Bernardo — Writer/Producer/Co-Creator

Having developed an affinity for writing at a young age, Sydney is extremely proud to see Z-MOVIE come to life. Along with the rest of the team, she has spent countless hours developing the characters and crafting the story to represent such universal values as family, trust, and strength in the face of adversity. She is studying Business and Screenwriting at USC.

Meghan Hemelt — Producer/Co-Creator

With a background in Theatre and Math, and having held several leadership positions in the past — including Executive Director of the SC Business Film Festival — Meghan has the experience and preparation to ensure the fun and efficient production of this project. She has been heavily involved thus far, helping to create a streamlined budget and looking into various locations, stunt coordinators, and much more.

About Delta Kappa Alpha

Z-MOVIE is the fall's semester-long film presented by Delta Kappa Alpha, USC's national honorary cinema fraternity. Founded in 1936, DKA fosters lifelong character, collaborative and creative storytelling, and bonds between students of cinematic arts on various college campuses across the US. Famous alumni include George Lucas, with honorary members such as Alfred Hitchcock, James Stewart, Billy Wilder, and countless other legends.
