WHO WE ARE

We are The Dowsers Society, an independent rock band from Lisbon, Portugal. Our music is a blended modern-vintage groovy rock'n'roll, highly influenced by the blues, the stoner and some psychedelic rock. Our songs reflect a relentless pursuit for electrified, reverberated sounds that echo and transport our imaginary to a desert space.

As this is being written, we are wholeheartedly working on the pre-production of our second album. As soon as we finish that phase, our goal is to move to a second phase, where we’re going to record our amazing next album in a professional recording studio [Black Sheep Studios]. You are a very important part of this process because, with your support, we’ll make this album come true.

Our band was born in 2014, by the hands of Carlos Alves, Luís Gama, and Ivo Martins. One year later, we entered the Black Sheep Studios with a handful of songs to record our eponymous debut album. It was a great experience and we all feel very fortunate to have our first album recorded, mixed, and mastered by Bruno Pedro Simões [Sean Riley & The Slowriders] in late 2015.

Our first album was released in March 2016 and was well received by some people that became our fans and some critics, in Portugal and abroad [Turkey, Brazil, Poland, Germany, Spain, USA, UK and others]. Since then, we have been promoting it with concerts around Portugal and Spain, giving us the opportunity to play in amazing venues such as Sabotage Rock Club [Lisbon], Texas Bar [Leiria], Costello Club [Madrid], Sala Filomatic [A Coruña] and many other great clubs with amazing crowds. Without you listeners, fans, backers, friends and family, none of this would be possible.

For the last couple of years, we have been working hard on the composition of new songs for our upcoming album. We want it to be better and greater than the first one and that’s why your support is so important. Our intention is to make a record with a total of 11 tracks, that are already written. For the next months we’re going to be deeply immersed in the pre-production of this record, just to make sure every single detail is going to be perfect when we enter the recording studio.

ABOUT OUR CAMPAIGN

WHAT WE NEED?

Our campaign needs your support in order to get what we need to pay for:

• Professional studio time for Recording, Mixing and Mastering all the tracks for the new album. This includes everything that we need from the studio: one week of Studio Time in a professional studio [Black Sheep Studios], Sound Engineer Work, Producer Work, Backline Renting, Special Gear Renting - €2500
• The production of the physical album, in a 300 limited edition CD - €825
• The Production of the Perks | Rewards for this campaign - €565
• Other expenses like: instruments, cables and pedalboards maintenance… and a lot of coffee - €210

For this release we aim to raise a total of €4,100.

This is a Flexible Funding campaign, which means that if our campaign doesn’t meet its goal by its deadline, we will keep the funds anyway. Any amount of money will help us reaching our goal and still being able to fulfill all the perks for you. Your support is really important, because it will leverage our investment on recording this album.

For this record, the songs will be professionally produced by Carlos Bb António [from Keep Razors Sharp and others] in Black Sheep Studios, with the support of a resident sound technician.

We are really excited about making this record! Sharing it with you, our audience, is the icing on the cake. Our goal is to have the album ready for release on the first quarter of 2021.

For the kind of music we produce, to make a professional recording with the highest quality we’re aiming for, we need two main ingredients: to love what we’re doing and to invest a lot of time and money. 

If we surpass the target for the €4,100 amount, we will continue to raise more money for other activities that will be really important to promote this new record, such as:

• Video[s] to promote the song[s] that will be released as single[s] for the album;
• Production of a limited edition of the record in vinyl. This will include the remastering of the album specifically for vinyl pressing.
