Even though I was young when I had Craig, I could tell right away that I had been given a precious gift and I have worked very hard to be the kind of mother my wonderful son deserves. And I thank God every day since for my son. It's hard to be the mother of a warrior. I've faced the thought of Craig being killed or maimed on the battle, but when he came home safe from his deployment I just didn't imagine he'd be gunned down in cold blood in the streets on Desert Hot Springs California.
