Help 'Give Kids a Shot that Can’t be Blocked!' by sending a child to Camp Skyhook.
Camp Skyhook helps bring Los Angeles under-served kids closer to nature while teaching them new skills that will encourage them to
seek a profession in the highly sought after fields of science, technology,
engineering, and math (STEM).
Where
would our lives be without the iPhone? Imagine if Steve Jobs would have never
had a chance to satisfy his curiosity about the world of technology. We’d be
living in a much less connected–and much less amazing–world than we are today.
We know the next Albert Einstein, Sally Ride, Jane Goodall, and Neil Armstrong
(the astronaut, not the cyclist with a different first name) are sitting in a
classroom right now, but what if those children were never given the
opportunity to fulfill their scientific destinies?
Camp
Skyhook is committed to protecting our children’s futures to ensure they are aiming for goals well within their reach. Every year 6,000 under-served fourth and fifth graders in the Los
Angeles Unified School District are given the opportunity to learn more about the
fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) during a
multi-sensory five-day adventure inside the beautiful Angeles National Forest.
This life-changing camp gives the kids a better understanding of STEM and how it will impact their future. For the majority of the kids, this is their first time being
away from home or experiencing the mountains and nature.
What We Need & What You Get
In order to double the number of
yearly participants from 6,000 to 12,000, we are focused on raising $250,000.
All funds* go directly to finance the camp, which includes: housing, meals,
lesson plans, technology tools, supplies, teachers, counselors, transportation, and much more. Currently
there is a THREE-year waiting list!
What You Get:

what you’ll receive!
The Impact
By improving a kid’s life today, you could be
changing the lives of everyone in his or her family, as well as that of his or
her future family. How amazing is that? This truly is the cliché of dropping a
pebble in the pond and watching all the ripples that occur from that one tiny
stone. The next ripple after the child’s family is society. More scientists
within the community mean more discoveries, inventions, and technologies.
Everyone benefits…and it all started with your pebble.
