Our mission is to celebrate the passionate Karate Kid and Cobra Kai fandom, showcasing how this iconic saga continues to inspire, unite, and shape lives. Through fan stories, nostalgia, and community, we aim to capture the heart of a movement that proves the legacy is stronger than ever.

Why This Documentary?

The Karate Kid franchise changed lives, and Cobra Kai reignited a global obsession. But beyond the screen, a passionate fandom thrives—one that spans generations, cultures, and backgrounds. Kai Hards is a documentary that dives deep into this phenomenon, capturing the heart and soul of the fans who keep the legacy alive.

From Comic-Con gatherings to personal stories of perseverance, mentorship, and redemption, we explore why this universe means so much to so many. With exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes moments, and fan experiences, this film is for those who live by Strike First, Strike Hard, No Mercy—but also by Balance, Honor, and Legacy.

DREW RASKIN - PRODUCER

Drew Raskin, known as the Cobra Kai Kid, has become a prominent figure in the Cobra Kai and Karate Kid universe through his dynamic YouTube channel. As a content creator and influencer, Drew has cultivated a passionate community of fans with his in-depth breakdown videos, exclusive interviews with cast members, and creative sketches and parodies inspired by the beloved franchise. Drew started his channel in the summer of 2019, during the show's early days on YouTube Red, before Cobra Kai moved to Netflix and skyrocketed in popularity.  His YouTube channel, Cobra Kai Kid, has become a go-to destination for fans seeking fresh perspectives, behind-the-scenes content, and engaging discussions about the show's massive impact. 

With over 238K subscribers, 39 million total views, and more than 1,000 videos, Drew’s enthusiasm, authenticity, and expertise have earned him a loyal following, making him a respected voice within the Cobra Kai fandom. His work has garnered praise from the show's main cast and the creators behind it, cementing his place as a respected figure in the community. 

Beyond YouTube, Drew actively participates in events, collaborates with fellow creators, and continues to grow his platform as a trusted source for all things Cobra Kai.

KAYVON DERAK-SHANIAN - DIRECTOR

Kayvon is a four- time OSCAR qualified filmmaker.

​His directorial debut was the feature documentary "Empty Hand" about four competitors who train to fight against their toughest rivals as they struggle to become the next National Karate Kid Champion; it premiered at DOC NYC.

Kayvon has dedicated his life to Martial Arts. At the age of 10 he studied under the legendary Master Fumio Demura the man responsible for doubling for Mr. Miyagi (Pat Moria) for the karate kid franchise.

​His 2nd film, "The Real Miyagi", winner of 7 international film awards, starring Steven Seagal, Dolph Lundgren, Micheal Jai White, depicts the life of the greatest karate master of our generation. Acquired by NETFLIX worldwide 2017-2022. 

​In 2021, Kayvon revisits Mr. Miyagi, this time with a documentary about the prolific actor behind the character, Pat Morita, with "More Than Miyagi: The Pat Morita Story". Starring Ralph Macchio, Tommy Chong and Henry Winkler. Available worldwide on all VOD Platforms and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. 

​In 2022, he produced “Pepe Serna: Life is Art” About a Mexican-American character actor Pepe Serna that’s starred in over 250 films who has paved the way for generations of Chicanx actors in Hollywood. Starring Edward James Olmos, Eva Longoria and Cheech Marin. The film premiered at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and Austin Film Festival.

GERRY GARCIA - CO- PRODUCER

Gerry Garcia is a dynamic American actor, writer, athlete, Black Belt in Karate, and musician. His diverse talents have led him to collaborate with industry legends such as Robert Duvall, Jeff Goldblum, and Taylor Sheridan, marking his significant presence in the film world. At a young age, Gerry's parents, Adon and Tilly, instilled in him a love for music through piano lessons, laying the foundation for his faceted artistic journey. This early musical training evolved into a passion for storytelling, whether through compelling screenplays or evocative melodies. Beyond his artistic endeavors, Gerry is an accomplished athlete and martial artist, bringing physicality and authenticity to his roles. His dedication to these disciplines enhances his performances, adding depth and realism that resonate with audiences.

Currently, Gerry is developing several screenplays, eager to craft narratives that captivate and inspire. He believes in the transformative power of art, stating, "It is the power of art to carry one's self into the mental state of the creator. The passenger has no choice... it is like hypnotism."

With a blend of talent, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, Gerry Garcia continues to make waves in the film industry, promising a future filled with compelling stories and unforgettable performances.
