Short Summary
My name is Stephen Garone. Conor Biddle and I are student filmmakers at Emerson College in Boston. We are developing a short film called #1 Dad that satirizes fatherhood in a comical and action packed way.
We open on a tracking shot towards a family opening presents around a Christmas tree. A son gives his father (BILL) a #1 Dad mug. Bill gets extremely emotional because he interprets the #1 Dad mug to mean that he is truly the #1 Dad in the world.
Later, Bill goes to work and flaunts his #1 Dad mug everywhere he goes. His boss takes notice because of his mug. Things are looking up for Bill until he meets his rival encircled by his coworkers at the office. His rival has a #1 Dad mug too... there can only be one number one...
Naturally, a choreographed fight scene ensues as each competitor tries to break the other's mugs. After the fight concludes, a small utterance of a masterfully timed Dad joke shatters the #1 Dad mug (click here if you don't know Dad jokes).
#1 Dad is a glorious script because it blends comedy, action, satire, and parody into one short film.
Background
We are filming this project with real film (Super 16mm Color Film) for our Film II class at Emerson College.
In Film II, every student has to pitch their idea to a jury of filmmakers who then decide what the top four films in the class are. #1 Dad was chosen among the top four ideas!
We created this page in order to gain the means to enable our creativity for this project to run wild.
Budget
Our budget is mostly geared towards our film development costs, our food services for cast and crew on set, our essential camera support system, and our music licenses.
One of the biggest challenges about this film is going to be properly choreographing the fight scene.
That is why we are currently working with a trained boxer, martial artist, and fight choreographer to not only do the fight choreography, but also to play the father of the film.
And we also are working with another trained fighter to play the rival Dad.
Other Ways
If you cannot contribute, don't worry! We completely understand that not everyone can. There are other ways to help.
If you could just send this campaign to friends or family, that is an amazing help to us.
Please help us make #1 Dad the film that we know it can be.
