What is 180Dayz all about?
I create comics about teaching and issues in education because I know firsthand as a teacher that anyone working in our field or with kids in general needs a good laugh, and honestly, there probably isn't anything more funny than what goes on in education these days. My goal is to bring you, my fellow colleagues, a bit of stress relief and also enlighten the general public as to what is really happening in the world of education.
Wait, I thought you were a rich and famous cartoonist... (aka, didn't I see your comic in my union paper?) So why do you want my money?
Contrary to what some may imagine, my work for 180Dayz has been up to this point pro bono. Besides the tremendous time commitment, believe it or not there are some costs associated with running the 180Dayz site (i.e. web-hosting, the mocha double lattes needed to fuel me through a day of teaching and then working on a comic at night, etc.). I usually absorb these costs, but I've recently come to a point where I want to test the moxie of what 180Dayz does. Is it fulfilling a strong of enough need that people would be willing to open up their wallets and support it? Thus, I am doing a bit of a test here. My goal is to raise at least $100 during this short campaign to covering webhosting and associated costs (I know, I know, it says the goal is $500 but that is because Indiegogo has that set as minimum amount, so I can't set it any lower than that, but trust me $100 bucks is my goal, I'm not a greedy bast@rd, lol!) If this mini-campaign proves successful (aka it raises $100) then I will move forward with some more substantial projects and product releases that I am sure a few of my fans have been waiting for. It is my hope that such will forge a eventual self-sufficient future for 180Dayz and eliminate the need for me begging for money, ooops, I mean crowdfunding. (Some of you have already told me what you want from 180Dayz, but if there is a 180Dayz product you want to see first holla at me at 180dayzcomics@gmail.com and let me know, and if this goes well then I will move forward with some of those ideas).
So what do I get out of this?
Well first and foremost, you keep the 180Dayz site and comics alive, possibly saving thousands if not millions of teachers from a nervous breakdown. Besides that, I do have different levels of rewards for each contribution amount as you will see on the funding page.
What else can I do to support 180Dayz?
A huge help is to continue to spread the word about 180Dayz.
