2 Red Wines Supporting Prostate Cancer Research
The Basics:
I (Winemaker Bob)
started small volume wine making in 2007 to indulge a long-time passion for wine, producing the award-winning Zinpiphany© Zinfandel and Rhone-styled #2red. Passion changed to purpose after a pair of "normal" prostate biopsies to evaluate an elevate PSA were then followed by the diagnose of incurable prostate cancer. Determined to make the best of the situation, I created the Robert and Susan Hollander Foundation, an IRS approved 501c3 non-profit in support of prostate cancer research.
Since then, all proceeds from my wine making efforts at 2redWinery have been committed to supporting prostate cancer research through the Foundation. Help me continue my efforts with the 2015 vintage, producing great wines for you in support of prostate cancer research.
The Campaign:
By helping me make my next two barrels of wine with your tax-deductible support, you can secure wines from the 2015 vintage or from my award-winning wine library while supporting prostate cancer research.
My motivation is simple:
- To produce more awesome wine for you;
-
To support prostate cancer research.
About 3 million men are living in America right now with prostate cancer and about 28000 will die this year. This campaign will allow me to continue the pursuit of something I love while helping someone you may know.
What I Need, What You Get & What I Do
All proceeds above my anticipated wine makings costs of $16,000 for the two barrels are committed to the Foundation and prostate cancer research. The Foundation currently operates with an expense rate of 0.0% (I pay the costs.) You get the wine (see Perks). I get the satisfaction of making wine and doing something useful. In the two fiscal years the Foundation has been operational, we have made annual gifts with recipients including clinical investigators at MD Anderson and the Cleveland Clinic. Both wines, from the first vintage in 2007 and onward have been award winners in competition:
-
2007 Zinpiphany, 2012 SF International Wine Competition – Silver Medal
2008 Zinpiphany, 2012 SF International Wine Competition – Double Gold

The video clip shows me tasting the bottled 2012 Zinpiphany for the first time. It was Zinpiphanitic. I am proud and pleased with all of my wines, including those not yet entered in competition.
The Perks
Like wine futures, you can secure wine from the upcoming 2015 vintage. I will be offering single bottles, mixed two-packs, half-case/6 bottles and full cases of Zinpiphany and #2red. In addition, because of the longevity and age-ability of the #2red, can you secure magnums (1.5L, equal to two standard bottles) and the ever impressive 3L jeroboam. The just bottled 2013 #2red will also be available in big bottles. For those of you with immediate gratification needs, you can select from my existing wine library, including some of the wines listed above.

Risks:
The California wine industry has been unusually reliable year after year, largely due to favorable weather, adequate rain and, when the rain is spotty, irrigation which still remains reliable. Natural disasters remain a rare risk and wine-making disasters like a failed fermentation are possible, but events like these are unlikely.
Wine shipments are not possible to: DE, KY, MS, OK, RI, SD, UT.
I can ship to PA, and AL but they must be shipped to a state store for your pick up.
