Short Summary

We are a team of researchers who have band together to launch our own start up company focusing on improving overall health by targeting the human microbiome. The co-founders include Aly Burtch, with a BSc in Biology from Ryerson University, and Alejandro Saettone, who is currently working on his PhD in Molecular Science at Ryerson. Thanks to the support and mentorship from our supervisors at Ryerson University, as well as access to lab space, we have been able to design, test, and manufacture our kits over the past year and we are almost ready to launch! We are also members of the Science Discovery Zone at Ryerson University, which provides us with the mentorship and expertise to grow and develop our business.

Microbiome research is exploding in popularity and is providing key insights to many unanswered questions about human health and our overall genome!  There is an abundance of evidence that links our communities of gut bacteria with short and long term health conditions, however there is not enough action being taken to ensure our bacteria are healthy and happy! By looking at individual microbial communities, we are able to provide individuals with a complete analysis of their microbiome supplemented with the probiotics they need to restore their microbiomes to a healthy state. 

We are very fortunate to have already received a small grant that has allowed us to have our kits tested and manufactured. We are currently hoping to raise funding to enable us to purchase a large quantity of probiotics to supply to our clients. Once uBioDiscovery increases in popularity and begins to generate revenue, our goal is to design custom probiotics to target specific problem areas (such as weight loss and mood disorders),
