Hi! Chances are, you found this indiegogo campaign through my instagram account- @ashleyr.graves. If that's the case, you may already know my story. But, if you aren't familiar with me, here is what I'm trying to do and why it is important to me.
I have started a team to raise money and walk in the 2015 Light the Night walk, run by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This event was created to raise funds and awareness for Blood Cancer research. There are too many people diagnosed with blood cancers every day, and too many lives lost.
In February of 2014, my father was diagnosed with Leukemia. The hemotologist gave him just twelve weeks to live. With frequent blood transfusions and hospital visits, we were lucky to get another fourteen months with him before he passed in April of this year. We had done our best to prepare ourselves for the inevitable, but soon realized that no amount of preparation really helps when you lose a loved one.
Years prior to my father falling ill to Leukemia, my family lost another life to blood cancer. My cousin lost her battle with Leukemia in 1996, at the age of 11. That was almost two decades ago and my family is still grieving the loss of Christina.
I believe that with our help, the Leukemia and Lymphoma society can find a cure for blood cancers and hopefully prevent anyone from feeling the pain of losing someone to these diseases. I hope to be part of the generation that sees a world without blood cancers.
Every little bit counts, but if you donate at least $5, you can take advantage of one of the perks below. Each donation, no matter the amount, comes with my never ending gratitude and so much love from me to you.--
Please help my team reach our goal!
