SUMMARY
On April 15th, James Dann and his crew will hit the East Coast to film an extended preview for his feature-length film, 2nd Amendment.
2nd Amendment is a cinematic journey uncovering the reasons for and psychology behind individuals’ and families’ justifications for keeping and bearing guns.
We are raising funds to cover the production and post-production costs. This 10-min short -- which expresses the essence of the film, production strategy, and unique method of storytelling for a one-hour feature film -- is essential for our garnering funds from financiers and grant donors.
Please support us so we can make this important documentary happen and distribute it in time for the midterm elections.
Second amendment rights is turning into the single most divisive issue in 2013 and into the midterm election season of 2014, not just among politicians and lobbyists but within individual communities – urban and rural, industrial and agricultural, conservative and progressive.
- What makes ordinary Americans feel the need to own guns?
- Is there a darker, more un-investigated motivation at work?
- What drives the paranoia?
Beyond the politics, beyond the media hype and beyond the surface lies the subjective mind of the individual. We see an unprecedented turning point in America happening – and an opportunity to document it in a way no one has before.
WHAT WE NEED & WHAT YOU GET
We are aiming to reach $6,000 in order to cover production and post production of the promo (10-minute short):
Your money will go towards:
- Research: both in the UK and in the USA. We are offering small stipends; in addition, some of the information we need is at cost.
- Archive footage: we have a couple TV news clips we'd like to use and can get -- but they are not free!
- Car rental: we are driving from NYC>Philadelphia>Washington, DC>Baltimore>NYC. That's a lot of gas!
- Provisions: our producers need to survive on more than determination.
- Editing: this is a much needed talent cost. We have an editor who's cutting us a great break!
- Publicity and promotion: we have a targeted ad campaign utilizing social media that will generate buzz for the feature production as well as user-generated content
Some incentives in return for your support:
- $100+: our name will appear in the credits; free DVD copy
- $1,000+: you will be listed as an Associate Producer
- $3,000+: you're our lifesaver and will be listed as a Producer
All donors will be credited online (Facebook, website).
CURRENT NON-FINANCIAL BACKING
Feel free to explain more about your campaign and let people know how the difference their contribution will make:
- Explain why your project is valuable to the contributor and to the world.
- Point out your successful track record with projects like this (if you have one).
- Make it real for people and build trust.
Contact us at 2ndAmendmentFilm@gmail.com if you want to learn more and view a complete proposal – including budget, timeline, and potential distribution – and a letter of interest from Sideways Films. We would also welcome the opportunity to tell potential funders about the specific people and places we've already secured for the film.
