The Art Marathon Festival is a celebration of contemporary art held each August in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador and is organized by Eastern Edge Gallery! We are a not for profit artist-run centre committed to exhibiting contemporary art in diverse media.

WHAT IS THE ART MARATHON FESTIVAL: DREAMWORLDS?

The AMF features local, national, and international artists who present unique performances of their work, share skills in public workshops, take part in provoking discussions, and participate in a 24 hour marathon of live art making.

For the first time, the Art Marathon Festival will have a core focus: dreamworlds. This year, we are inviting artists to explore the worlds of their dreams –  utopias, dystopias, fantasies, and delusions. For generations artists have provided new models of thinking, acting and being. From designing our cities to engaging one another, artists suggest and possibilities emerge. Ideas tumble from the dream world to the real world.

WHAT WILL I SEE?

Fancy Artist Talks -  8 different artists present their work while you sip on a cocktail inspired by their artistic practice at Eastern Edge Gallery.

Dreamworlds Art Crawl - featuring 5 visiting and 3 artist projects across downtown as well as variety of pop up events, artist studios and local galleries as well as a curated drive in movie theatre of Canadian video art.

Artist projects by - Sean Martindale (Toronto), Nelio (France), Pam Hall (St. John's), Gustavo Cequera Benjumea (Toronto), Phillipa Jones (St. John's), Damien Worth (PEI), and Cara/Cara (St. John's).

Dreamworlds Art Crawl Headquarters - Stop by the Ship, where if you've visited 5+ artists projects you'll get in for 1/2 off. Entertainment by Island Belles Burlesque and local band/dj (TBA).

The Art Marathon Event. Over 60 artists making art live, with 5 local bands (Delusion Victims, Illia Nicol, Sonny Tripp, Cafeteria, DJ Slim Macho), and various pop up performances thoughout the day. Open to all ages.

Art auction and exhibition. A great place to start or continue your art collection! All proceeds to EE, a not for profit charity and ARC.

COME DREAM WITH US

The festival will take place August 15th to 18th 2013 at 72 Harbour Drive and surrounding areas.

ABOUT OUR CAMPAIGN AND YOUR DONATION

We are looking to raise 14000$, 1000$ for each of the thirteen years the festival has existed and 1 extra for good meassure! Truly any amount of contribution would be greatly appreciated and put to good use.

By making contributions you help ensure that artists fees will get paid for all the creative work invited artists provide, paying wages to hire extra staff for the events, ensuring community workshops are well funded and the materials costs are covered for those who participate in them, covering equipment rental fees for musicians and installation artists, any travel and lodging costs for all the invited artists, publication design and printing, and maintaining the high creative excellence the community has come to expect from us. The more funds we raise the greater amount we can pour into this festival and the excellent artists who help produce this every year
