The Project:

The 48 Hour Film Project is a competition held in over 80 cities across the globe. Teams have 48 hours to assemble a complete film assigned a random genre from script to DVD. Since arriving in Detroit in 2008, team Midnight Oil has been an activate participant comprised mainly of student filmmakers from Michigan. Each year presents unique challenges in creating short films.

We love to make films, even in pouring rain, hot temperatures, without sleep or food. We brave the elements each year in this competition even taking away awards for the past two. As we scrape together resources to create the film we are hoping to get others involved. By contributing to our campaign you help free up the logistics and allows focusing more on creativity as well as obtaining better resources.

Funding:

After reviewing past years we have put some serious thought into our needs. We are aiming to raise around $585 to cover the cost of making this film. Entry fees, equipment rentals, supplies, copies of the script, and so on add up. There are other cost we feel that local businesses may donate to such as food and beverages. This helps us keep focused on the essentials to making the film. All funds exceeding our goal help us operate with better efficiency and quality.

By being a supporter we have several perks to offer. They range from being mentioned in the credits to having a character named after you. There are some great perks in between including copies of the finished film, posters, and even a glimpse into the craziness behind the scenes.

In the result that we fall short of our goal, our crew will forge forth to create a film this year. There is a hierarchy for items to address and some take precedence during filming.

The Support:

By supporting this campaign, one gives aspiring filmmakers the freedom to focus on creativity. This project allows filmmakers to develop material for their portfolios, network with their peers, showcase their films to a wide audience, as well as develop many skills in and out of their initial training.

Team Midnight Oil is comprised of dedicated artists to this craft. Our teams have been rather large and over the years we have had 82 actors and crew members play a role. Some of the members have been Emmy nominated, been accepted in the Ann Arbor Film Festival student showcase, as well as won awards at student film festivals. Several have begun to freelance and others are emerging professionals. Our team has also won awards for the 48 Hour Film Project for the past two years including best in our genre and best sound design out of 55+ teams.

Thank You and Other Ways to Help:

This project requires support, but not strictly monetary. Please help spread the word about this campaign to your friends and family. Help get them involved and even get their name in the credits. Make sure to check out Indie Go Go's share tools to further our mission.

Filmmaking is a collective art form. It relies on support from multiple sources. Help us tell a great story. We appreciate all your support.
