Who I am:
My name is Aaron Calafato and I'm an actor and a storyteller. I write and perform plays about social issues and use theater as a medium to instigate social change.
What my play is about and Why it's important:
"For Profit" (based on my true story) as seen in: The Chonicle of Higher Education, Campus Progress, NPR, WEWS ABC, The Fiscal Times, Occupystudentdebt, and Pluck Magazine is a vibrant portrayal of the exploitation of the American student, through the lens of an unwilling admission adviser at a For Profit institution.
This play was inspired by my experience working in the admissions department at a For Profit University and my own struggle with unreasonable student loan debt.
The intention of this play is to instigate conversation about the predatory nature of For Profit Educational Institutions, and the dangers of student loan debt, which has negatively effected the future of our young American working class.
What I'm doing
"For Profit" has already previewed in Cleveland, Ohio and just premiered in New York City this March. The play has received a great response, so I decided to start a year-long multi-city tour. Currently, we are booking venues in WashingtonDC, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Cincinnati, and Dayton. I want to grow this show and bring the play and its message to a city or venue near you!!
What I need:
In order bring this important message to a city near you, I need your assistance in reaching my financial goal. All money raised will be used solely for funding travel expenses of the "For Profit" tour.
Expenses include: car rentals, gas, train fare, plane fare, lodging, and meals just to name a few.
When you donate, see what sort of perks you can get!! Could include tickets to a show near you!
How you can help:
Besides donating to this campaign you can SHARE SHARE SHARE our campaign on FB, Twitter, Email and more!! Share with friends, colleagues, family, and co-workers, and anyone who has been affected by the student loan debt crisis.
