Short Summary
Sam Berns & Aaron Alter are young filmmakers from Toronto. Sam has a University education in Marketing while Aaron has a degree in Film. The two have been collaborating together for over eight years. Together they have produced over 100 pieces of original content, collaborating on sketches, music videos, and short films.
After years of developing different types of content, experimenting with their comedic sensibilities and voice, Sam and Aaron felt it was time to take a risk on their biggest project to date. Both are aspiring filmmakers- a feature is the logical next step in their career. The two are self-funding the film and using whatever money from this campaign to enhance the film further.
What We Need & What You Get
We are currently fully funded based on a micro budget. Although we are using the industry’s leading equipment such as a RED Epic Dragon Cinema camera, additional funding will help other areas of the production such as better locations and costume.
As well, all of our cast and crew are working for free- with the hopes of a future distribution deal. More funding will help ensure a great experience for them through better catering, transportation and accommodations. We set the goal for the campaign at $10000 CAD as that is what we are currently contributing from our own pockets. Whatever money we raise here is additional. Either way the film is being made. The question is how much better can it get.
The Impact
We’re telling a human story that everybody could relate to. It’s fun, absurd, and it has a lot of heart. We’ve had great success with our short film collaborations and look forward to further it with this film.
Risks & Challenges
Producing a feature film for $10000 is not unheard of, but extremely challenging. We are pulling as many favours as we can to make this production work. We are both producing the whole film together, having a hand in every detail from writing, acting, directing to planning the catering and transportation for our incredible team. Through years of collaborating with many in the Toronto film community, relationships have formed helping us get free rentals and donated time.
