Award-winning filmmaker Nathan Cheney embarks on a journey of his lifetime– unmasking the truth about one of America’s most significant social issues: fatherless children. A Fatherless Generation takes a deep and personal look at the social, psychological, and emotional trauma caused by growing up fatherless. With a fresh grassroots approach, Cheney turns the camera on himself and captures his emotional journey as he seeks to build a relationship with his father.
The documentary explores the staggering fatherhood dynamics across the country. Whether known or unknown, the universal question
A Fatherless Generation asks is,
“Who’s your daddy?"

Where the Money Goes
Support The Journey
Making movies is a lot of work and as you can imagine it takes a lot of money to get it done right. With $35,000 we can finish principal production, fund our trip to Kansas, pay for our legal fees and equip ourselves with additional hard drives (to store all of our footage on). Also, with this social issue being so topical, what better time to get this movie finished and out there to the world?
With your contributions you'll be helping make a movie that raises awareness on this social epidemic. Help us break the cycle of the fatherless and make a difference for the next generation. Your contribution will help us fund the trip for the empowering final scene of the film, where Nathan travels back to Kansas to interview his father.

The Mission

Meet The Team
NATHAN CHENEY (Director/Producer) While attending Columbia College Hollywood, Nathan focused on producing and directing his short thesis project which soon became this feature documentary A Fatherless Generation. During the life hood of the film, Nathan began working at Access Hollywood and no more than a year later became the TV shows host Billy Bush’s personal assistant. From there on the two formed an unlikely friendship and mentorship, in which Billy has been a personal cheerleader for Nathan and a huge contributor to the feature documentary as the Executive Producer.
BILLY BUSH (Executive Producer)
Named as one of Esquire magazine’s “10 Men,” Billy Bush is anchor of the nationally syndicated daily entertainment newsmagazine, “Access Hollywood” which is now in its 20th season & daytime entertainment talk show “Access Hollywood Live” now in it’s 6th season. Each show provides the most fun, smart and comprehensive coverage of entertainment news and personalities on television.
Through his role at “Access Hollywood,” Bush has covered countless high-profile red carpet events including the Golden Globes, Grammys, and Academy Awards as well as hosted ABC’s live pre-show for the 2004, 2005 and 2006 Academy Awards and NBC’s live pre-show for the 2010 Emmy Awards. In addition, he has reported the Olympic games for NBC since 2004.
Why IndieGoGo?
The producers chose IndieGoGo for their online fundraising to be able to engage with a wider audience and also be able to provide special perks, just for IndieGoGo contributors. Additionally, IndieGoGo is in partnership with the International Documentary Association, the films fiscal sponsor. This allows the producers to receive all donations raised through the IndieGoGo online fundraising platform at a lower percentage than other online fundraising hubs.
